Review - Covington Brewhouse

On a staycation in Covington this past weekend, my BF and I visited Covington Brewhouse. Since I obsessively plan everything, I had our arrival time planned based on the information on their website. We arrived promptly at 10:30 am for the tour only to be told that it was moved to 11:30 am. No worries. We used that time to browse an art market right next to the brewery, and also walk over to the Covington Farmer's Market.
Arriving back at 11:30, we were brought into the tasting room to order some beer. I really liked the Krolsch. It was light, and it was a good beer for the Summer. The BF had the porter. It wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be. It was tasty, and had a slight hint of coffee taste. Bonus!
I also tried their IPA. I like hops, but I found it to be too much for my taste.
The tour was very informative, and Mike was a great tour leader and host. We enjoyed talking to him about the beer at the brewhouse, as well as other beers he's tried on his various travels. Everyone we encountered was VERY friendly.
My only complaint is that they charge full price for their beers in the tasting room. You get nothing for free. I guess I'm spoiled by Abita and NOLA Brewing's tours. I just felt that charging $4-$4.50 for every single beer was a bit much.

Covington is probably my least favorite Louisiana brewery. I'm a big fan of keeping it local but I rarely partake in any of their beers.

I had no idea Covington LA had a brewery. That's great.

Sadly, it isn't. However, Mandeville has a nice one. Old Rail.

I love a local brewery, but God their beers are awful.

Well, at least they're trying. I thought that Old Rail was based out of Shreveport La?

The porter isn't bad.
The rest... blech. The only time I ever drink the strawberry is at the strawberry festival.. but now that they usually have craft beer tents, I don't even drink it there.
