Have any of you tried Reve coffee roasters from Lafayette? It was ranked in one of the thrillist - best roasters in the US articles.

Is it worth ordering some beans?

Ive been to the cafe many times. They will also be in the new Whole Foods. I cant say that i am enough of a coffee snob to pick apart everything about the actual product though. Nice folks that run it.

These guys are coming to the White Star project on Government Street. Their shop in Lafayette is awesome, I think these guys will do pretty well.

Some of the best beans I have had (better than Bongo Java or Portland Brew), definitely my favorite in Louisiana.

ETA go get Made in the Shade blend from Bongo if you havent had it yet (and they still make it)

Oh, man. The hipsters be takin' over...

ETA: Portland Brew is based out of Nashville, TN, not Portland, OR.

13.95 for 12oz. bag of grounds is pretty dang steep man. You can get Community Coffee Premium beans for 9.95 12oz.

I would recommend going to Highland Coffees and getting some of their fresh roasted beans in house for 10 - 11.95 for 16oz. The Yirgacheffe blend is A-MAZING! It's a lot different than your standard coffee because it has such a different taste but would definitely recommend trying some. If you want the standard type of coffee but a very good blend go with the Colombian Supremo

That really isn't that steep for premium coffee. I wouldn't compare it to Community.

I would consider Highland Coffees to put out some pretty premium beans and they are 2-3 bucks cheaper for 4 more ounces.

With that said, YES that is a pretty steep price for coffee

I think you usually find beans cheaper if you get them at retail outlets other than the roaster.

I can get Stumptown beans for $13.99 for any of their choices at my neighborhood market. If I go to the Stumptown website, it costs $15-18 for 12 oz. Big difference.

Magpie here in BR gets Stumptown stuff from time to time. Mainly blends. What I've had has been great. Are they a really big outfit in Portland?

They are pretty popular. Portland has a ton of independent coffee roasters. Stumptown is one of the bigger ones.

Craft coffee is worth the price. You obviously don't have the palate to enjoy it so please continue drinking Community
