Which restaurant has the best?

How do you make yours?

Believe it or not.. Jason's Deli has a decent Reuben.. and if you "double-meat" the sandwich, it's a beast.. in a good way.

eta: the best Reuben I've had was at Carnegie Deli in NYC.

i made some recently:

Pepperidge potato bread
rouse's corned beef sliced thin
swiss cheese
havarti cheese
canned sauerkraut

sautee kraut with corned beef till hot, then layer cheeses until you have a good stack of meat/cheese/meat/cheese etc

toast bread in skillet in butter. i had to dress with thousand island because all i had, add meat/cheese stack, enjoy

I consider some form of rye bread and absolute requirement for a sandwich to be considered a "Reuben".

The best are in stand alone places. But if you're talking chain restaurants I like McAllisters.

Brown's in Oxford, England.

I actually use spicy mustard on mine if I make them. Prefer it to russian or thousand island on a reuben.

Yes, they do.

I also like the Reuben at The Barley Oak in Mandeville.

Stein's in Nola makes a damn good reuben. As well as Parkway Bakery and Kosher Cajun Deli in Metairie.

yep. Russian dressing is a pretty big must as well. otherwise it's just a sandwich.

If any of you are ever in LC, Tony's Pizza on Prien makes a pretty good one. I usually ask for extra dressing because they tend to go light on it.
