Recently I mentioned to someone that I may have tried 50 different food establishments just by reading about them on this site, so I thought it would be interesting for us to toss around some names of places that we've tried due to hearing about them on TD F&DB.

It can be good or bad, cost effective or expensive, and yes, I'm fully anticipating those "Red Lobster" posts, however, I thought this might be fun. So starting with...

Taqueria El Limon
Clancy's
August

Whatcha got?

Lilly's
Franko Antijitos (sp?)
Beausoliel

Longer list, most are pretty common but honestly I get 90% of restaurant recs from searching around on here.

Hate that they don't have table chips and salsa. And find much of their stuff merely average.

But, they do maybe have BR's best bistec/flank soft tacos? Nice owner.

Most of the Vietnamese places in NOLA
Root
I made Peche a priority because of the endorsements from here
Fat Matt's Rib Shack in ATL

A number of others because of conversations with R2R, not necessarily posting. It counts, though.

If we include bars, Avenue Pub.

Red Zeppelin pizza.

Close on Mansur's.

I still want to try Johnny's pizza.

I got some advice to go to Ruffino's on Thanksgiving, given it was one of the few places open. It was ok. Not great, not terrible. Just my opinion.

I did like the atmosphere and the workers were very helpful and accommodating.

My main turn off with Darrells is that they used the Kraft singles cheese in the sandwich.

Next time I'll order it without that. Not trying to dump on the place.

Again, just my opinion. It was good but not mind blowing to me.

It was a huge sandwich though. You definitely don't get short changed on food.

I usually find the second trip is not as good as the first. It might be worth a second trip to reconcile the novelty I seem to have with this place.

It's a cool place. I'll give it another whirl.

My sister and her friends (nope, don't ask ) love the place.

I'm probably just being too hard on it. Just not a fan of those Kraft single things unless you're making a grilled cheese sandwich. But you live and you learn.

That mayo is awesome, though. Holy moly.

Billy's boudin
Sammy's in BR

Both changed my life. Sammy's gave me the prime rib poboy. It was great. Billy's changed my opinion on the best boudin and cracklins.
