Mrs. Ziggy and I are driving in to New Orleans and having a little date night this Friday. We're going to see Ron White at Mahalia Jackson for 8pm and I was wondering if there are any good restaurants in close vicinity to the theater we can hit up before the show.

Any suggestions/recommendations are welcome. TIA

Go to Mahalia Jackson the night before if you want to see a comic that is actually talented, Louis CK.

Went to Meauxbar in 2009, and it was very, very good.

Good food and good service. Not too big a place........had an intimate feel.

I would definitely return.

ETA: to agree with debaser...........it is below the radar, and a place you should most definitely check out. I want to say it was on or near Rampart?...

Not sure what type of fare you're interested in, but Mona Lisa at 1212 Royal Street has really great pizza. They also serve Italian dishes. It's casual and modestly priced, but worth it if you like good pizza.
