Restaurants in London?

Spending several days in London and there doesn't seem to be much info posted for recs on this board from searching. A lot of "just go with the flow". I like to do a lot of that, but I know that usually ends up in sub par dining. See the French quarter.
I saw coolpapabooze thread in 2014 on some high end, but probably staying more casual on this trip I think.
Any recent thoughts?

M.A.S.H if you want steak and have money to blow. There are lots of neighborhood pubs that serve traditional British dishes, shep pie, fish n chips ect. Indian food in Soho neighborhood of London is a must as well. Whatever you do, don't goto this Sushi place is Knotting Hill-forget the name but to be safe just stay clear or ant sushi joint in London.

So the list below is what my wife and I started with three years ago, so I dont know if they still exist. I think all is in Mayfair, which may not be helpful.
I don't remember at time which places we actually ate. I know one meal was grabbing some food from the Harrods markets and eating in Hyde Park picnic style. Another was at Trader Vics, but it's both expensive, cavernous, and didnt stand out.
You'll have at least one meal at some pub. I'd recommend something Indian at some point. In a pinch, Pieminister is a chain place that's pretty good.
Shepherd Market Restaurants:
The Little Square (British), entrees £13-20
L’autre Polish-Mexican
Le Boudin Blanc (French), entrees £10-30
Al Hamra (Lebanese)
Iran Restaurant (Persian), entrees £13-20
Sofra (Turkish), meze plates £4-8, entrees £12-15
L’Artiste Muscle (French)
The Old Express (burgers), £8-16
Da Corradi (Italian, pasta, pizza), entrees £9-16
The Market Brasserie, £12-18
Piccolo Bar & Café (sandwiches)
Richoux (British, sandwiches, pasta, risotto, afternoon tea), entrees ~ £10-15
Noura (Lebanese), meze plates £5-9, entrees £13-17
Truc Vert (restaurant & deli)
Princess Garden (Chinese)
Sakana-Tei (Japanese)
Patara (Thai), entrees £14-20
The Only Running Footman, pub menu £8-18, restaurant menu £14-23
Il Pizzaiolo (Italian)
Coach & Horses (British)
Indian restaurants: Veeraswamy, Amaya, Tamarind, Chai Bazaar, Masala Zone
Pubs: Kings Arms, Shepherd’s Tavern, The Burlington Arms, Red Lion Pub, The Barley Mow

I'm sure. My goal is to put myself in areas to easily get to the restaurants I want to try and hit.

Chez Patrick, Wilton's, Laughing Gravy and afternoon tea in the Park Room at Grovsner House.
Pizza Union, sit outside at Golden Chippy.

Our favorite restaurant in London is Rule's on Maiden Lane near Covent Gardens. It is the oldest restaurant in London, having been there since 1798. Delicious food in beautiful surroundings. There is a great bar upstairs so go early for cocktails. We always make reservations there for our last night in London to have a big blow out dinner.

One word - expensive.
Wife and I would get a decent, moderately priced salt beef sandwich for lunch at Selfridge's Food Court. Otherwise we mostly ate at pubs.

Try the Black Friar. Was the only legitimate pub I visited. I think it's considered to be the first one or something.

We found a great neighborhood place, I'll try and look up the name, otherwise found it to be pretty meh, hit up one of the places Bourdain went on his layover episode, it was pretty good. Sadly the best place we went was a chain style tapas place.

I just got back from London last week. I don't have any great restaurant suggestions unfortunately, but for three different lunches we found some outdoor market type places - think semi-permanent food trucks. They were great for lunch with excellent variety and fairly good value.
We ate at the Southbank Centre Market near the golden jubilee bridge, the Borough Market on Southbank near London bridge, and the Portobello Market on Portobello Rd underneath the A40 Westway overpass.
I highly recommend the Burough Market. Excellent food choices and great outdoor market style grocery shopping.
