Valentine's Day is on a Sunday. I just tried to get a reservation at 4 places on Saturday with not much luck with the times I wanted. The only times that are open are late times. I decided to take a 5:30 at Fleming's on Saturday 2/13. That's what was left.

That's why we just cook a couple of nice steaks at home on Valentine's Day and then go out to dinner a week or so later. The people that go out to eat once a year fill up restaurants and the places are too packed. I'm not 90, I'm not eating dinner at 5:30 pm

I wouldn't be fighting Saturday night Valentine's Day madness if I were you, but different strokes.

The fact that most are booked almost a month in advance is enough of an indicator of what the night will be like.

Definitely go the night before. Valentine's Day is the second worst night to eat out behind New Years Eve

I never eat out on Valentines day. Normally cook something that the wife really likes and stay home.

Ugh. My husband and some of his high school/college friends are planning a dinner out, and they settled on Valentine's Day weekend. I told him that was an insane time to want to have dinner out, much less with a group (albeit small group, probably 8 people).

I guess I have to accept the fact that we'll be there forever and ever, amen.

Wife and I don't celebrate that day cause it's dumb, but more power to those who partake.

Is she obligating you to take her out?

Do you feel pressure to impress her by participating in amateur night?

Those in the know will either cook dinner at home (women love this btw), or simply choose another date. Not sure if I'd want to be with someone who would be butt hurt by not going out on Valentine's Eve. If your relationship relies on Hallmark cards, prayers sent.

In a nutshell, pick another day.

I would avoid restaurants at all cost that weekend.

Fresh Market has a dinner for two deal for $50 that includes filet, lobster, potatoes, asparagus, chocolate covered strawberries and a dozen roses.

Well, it was getting pretty uncomfortable when Gris Gris kept showing up.

Mother's Day is the one I think would be the worst for most restaurants.

Yeah, I won't be out that Saturday night for sure thought.

At least you're trying fairly early. I always had people who would book after dinner on Valentine's Day for the next year, same time, same table. Then you get the one dumbass who calls the day before and says "I'd like a reservation for tomorrow at 7pm"...oh u mean Valentine's Day, that we've been overbooked for weeks. Sure let me find you a seat on the toilet in the bathroom.

You're all lying. Whether you go to a restaurant or not, you're all eating out on Valentine's day.
