Looking for good local food (lunch or dinner), we'll be on Oahu for 10 more days. Preferably not in Honolulu.

I've already tried poke from Tamura's, which was fantastic, but I'm looking for a good spot to get Garlic Shrimp or other local fare.

Price isn't a concern.

Go on Yelp and search for reviews on North Shore. There is a guy named Derek who has reviewed every food truck and food stand in that area.

I can't remember exactly where it is at but there is a place close to Turtle Bay that has five or six food trucks and they are all good. It's close to where they rent the paddle boards. I went to the Thai truck but the Italian and other trucks had lines as well. Derek has reviewed all of them I believe and has the addresses to all of the places.

Cajun place on North Shore:

Nine of the 10 listings on this page are a stones throw away from each other. I never tried it but Ray's Kiawe Chicken was said to be really good.

Sugoi for some spicy garlic chicken, Nico's Pier 38 for some Furikake Pan Seared Ahi, Sweet Home Cafe for some hot pot, Boots and Kimo's Homestyle Kitchen for some Macadamia Nut Pancakes and somewhere that serves Mochi Balls for dessert. For a supermarket, Foodland's Poke is actually delicious!

Waiola's shave ice - don't give me this lunch or dinner jibberish. Go.
Cameilla's buffet
Alicia's
Niko's fish market
Fresh catch
Giovanni's shrimp truck (north shore) in Haleiwa. If you're into hot do the hot n spicy, otherwise the garlic one is good too
Coffee talk (my step moms coffee shop in kaimuki, fire breakfast/lunch options)
If you want to do some plate lunches Rainbow drive in is good for the basics, loco moko, etc.

The Hau Tree Lanai is a wonderful place to enjoy a great meal. You can sit outside and watch the sunset on the ocean while you eat.
