Also, what do you think with Stroubes name?

Stroube's is named for the pharmacy of the same name that occupied the building it's in for generations.

Well, I'm 25. My family has been here for generations, though.

Funny story: My mom's close friend went to dinner there with her dad (80+ years old) and right when they walked in, first words out of his mouth were: "shite, last time I was in here I was buyin' rubbers."

that's good stuff.

I didn't know about the Stroubes Drugstore being there until I took my mom. Her first time being down third street since she was a lot younger. Said she somewhat remembered it being open.

Me too. Gotta respect an establishment that can successfully blend modernity with the past.

It is also under "the office" and owned by the same management ( I think).

Makes a lot of sense, actually.

***i think it is a crappy name, but not because it doesn't make sense.

That bar in The Office is fine but that clientele is creepy.

I agree it's a stupid name.

May be a weak name but it certainly hasn't harmed their business

Never eaten there, so can't comment on the food. I'm just struck by the stupidity of the name every time I see it printed.

This. Sorry to see Chris go, but he's got another project that will be better for him and his rather large family.

I hate to be negative, but the place really needed a change in direction as far as the food was concerned. It was embarrassingly bad. Scott is a great chef so he will really elevate the restaurant. I just hope he sticks around. He never seams to stay at one place for more that a year or two. I look forward to giving this place a try again.

Their Facebook page and the articles written have said that they would start their new menu 2 weeks ago.. or last weekend at the latest.

We went Thursday night, and nothing at all was different. The only change was that they had a small tapas item that Varnadoe cooked at the James Beard house.

Just wanted to give you a heads up if you're planning to check out the menu soon. You might want to call ahead or wait a while because once seated and drinks arrived, we saw that nothing changed. $115 spent on a place where we've already had most items on the menu.. and have come to find just okay.

I went on Thursday and everything I had was great. Loved the James Beard dish.
