Restaurant IPO will see a new chef at the helm this week as Chef Chris Wadsworth makes his exit after about a year in its kitchen. His replacement is no one new to downtown Baton Rouge: former Stroube's executive Chef Scott Varnedoe will take over with Wadsworth's departure.

quote:

Varnedoe previously worked with IPO as a consultant and helped craft the original menu.
"We always had in the back of our minds in the beginning the ideal situation was consulting and to stay on, but the timing wasn't right," Varnedoe said. "The timing's right now."

Great move, imo.

Wow, that is interesting. Will be eagerly awaiting what he does there.

Let's hope the new menu reduces the sodium content in all of their dishes. Their shrimp and grits is unbearable due to the salt they douse it with. Actually, their bleu wings are delicious IMO.

I had a pretty poor experience when I went there earlier this summer. The atmosphere of that restaurant is awesome. But, the food was underwhelming.

What happened to chef Scott at Stroube's? I thought that place was his baby and really had a great buzz about it for a while. Sorry if it's old news and I'm sure it's still a great place

I've been to IPO 4 times. First time we went, we all had a great time and the food was delicious. The 3 subsequent times after were terribly worse. The last time I went they were serving rancid scallops that were stinking up the whole joint. I hope they can get it right

Place needs to change its name. The current one is awful.

It just strikes me as stupid. What the hell does it mean? All I think of is Initial Public Offering, which makes zero sense for a place I might want to go dine.

Just curious, what would you suggest.

Also, what do you think with Stroubes name?

Could care less about the name. Fix the consistency in the menu

Very true. First time the duck empanadas were awesome, subsequent times they were nothing but mushrooms and had to hunt for duck meat.

Were basically refused a table with 90% of the restaurant empty. It filled to about 1/2 by the time we left from sitting at the bar.

I don't know. Just something that makes sense. What is the current name supposed to mean?

Presuming it's the owner's name, it's fine I guess.

Never eaten there, so can't comment on the food. I'm just struck by the stupidity of the name every time I see it printed.

Probably meant to appeal to your professionals, sort of their target market. Same way golden corral targets their market with a name.

Went there this summer with high expectations and the food was terrible. The atmosphere is nice so if they can better the menu, I'll try again.
