I got intrigued by your methods for food purchases etc.

Do either of you know about Nakedwines.com?

It is an angel program where you pay in advance. The money funds the small wineries and you use the money you put in to purchase when you want.

My point is that I like it because it is allowing the small guy to get into wine production.

It's a luxury item, so I am not saying it is the same as hunting, fishing, purchasing from farmers etc. Your posts and ways just got me thinking about this.

I've been doing it. I like the wines. But I also like the thought of the little guy getting his chance. Granted it's not like giving a kid from the 4th ward an education, more like buying craft beer from a local guy, but....

Just interested in your thoughts...

I don't buy enough wine to get into a direct purchasing scheme. Seems like an interesting way to find out about up & comers, though. Some of the most drinkable wines I've encountered were unlabeled, co-op produced bulk reds in rural Tuscany. Now, the setting just might have influenced the flavor....

I use Club W, which is sort of similar, but the wine seems to be a cheaper and the shipping is only $6 for 3 bottles or free for 6 bottles.

I buy direct from the wineries or winemakers. Most all have a way to buy especially the small guys. I just research. Almost all will ship to LA but a few that don't normally have third party shipping. And I find it cheaper this way. Many have free shipping on case buys.

Club W,

I will check it out.

Once I drink the 20 bottles I already have, which may take me a year.
