The office competition hasn't started yet so I am in a weight holding pattern.

I ate enough yesterday to maintain.

Last year, I dropped like 10 pounds in the 3 days before the competition started and that cost me the victory. Not going to make the same mistake this year.

Not like I pigged out. I still only had about 1650 calories.

I was put in charge of the Biggest Loser Competition.

I'm glad to get started immediately.

Plenty of food down in the kitchen at the moment but I shall skip the leftover white beans and rice.

Tonight is my last night on night shift for a few months, I am excited. It's so hard to track food on tracking apps.. they don't account for night shift people..

I remember when I was on third shift. That's when I gained a majority of my weight after high school. Too many sugary drinks to help keep me awake and it didn't help that Krystal's was the only place open when I went on lunch.

Started yesterday off badly for breakfast and lunch but I righted the ship.

3 good days in a row.
If only I could get rid of 2 gallons of smegma in my sinuses, I would be down more.

how do you guys weigh yourselves every day and not go insane?

Between going to the gym 5 days a week for 2 months, and counting calories to keep them at 2,000 - 2,500 a day and not losing a pound in that time, I would go mad and quit if I got on a scale every day I think.

going to get in on this for the new year but probably update weight every week. I just can't look at a scale on a daily basis without getting perturbed. One of these days that whole muscle burns more calories is actually going to work out and the weight will move.

I was having similar rsults until I did a calculation of my BMR
(basal metabolic rate) Its easy to figure out, a BMR calculator can be found on google. I was just consuming too many calories. For my age/height/weight I need to stay around 1400 to lose. Good luck, keep at it

according to the calculator I just used my BMR is 2670.8. Then it says to take that BMR number and multiply by 1.2 if you have a sedentary lifestyle (which I had assumed since I sit at a desk 8-9 hours a day)

so 2670 x 1.2 = 3204 calories per day

OR since I go to the gym 5 days a week now I use the other number for moderately active it would be

2670 x 1.55 = 4138 calories per day

I'm eating, as stated earlier, between 2k-2500 per day. I can't imagine that I'm eating too few calories. As much as my brain tells me otherwise, everyone keeps saying the whole "muscle weighs more than fat" but even with muscle gains and going to the gym it seems like I should still be dropping weight.

Weighing daily and not seeing results can be aggravating but waiting to weigh and seeing the same thing can be just as devastating.

You spend a week doing what you think is the right thing, expecting a loss then BOOM. That can put you in just a sour mood as daily weighing.

For me, I know I need to weigh. Things go pear shaped when I stop looking every day.

Depending on how out of shape you were. You could very easily be adding muscle without the scale moving and it could be a while before the scale moves.

You should take measurements of arms, legs and chest if you are going to combine diet with exercise.

I was/am a flabby weak bastard to be honest. Was talking to a guy at work yesterday about this that works out a bit and he told me the same about gains and the lack of movement on a scale. Said I could see crap like that happening for a very long time.

I've already noticed the belt notches moving on my pants, so I know something is working. As you said, I should probably take some measurements. I can still see numbers move...just not in the form of a weight. motivation is motivation.

Are you losing inches? Based on your numbers and working out it seems you should be. For me personally I have to stay around 1400 cals (thats just the straight BMR number without multiplying for activity level) and still workout to lose. Thats on a low carb diet as well(30 gms carb day)

I haven't actually taken any measurements, guess I'll have to get the wife to give me a hand with that soon. I seem to be losing something, at least in my waist area. I'm at the last hole on my belt, which has never been used on this specific belt. So I'm either going to need a smaller belt soon, or going to have to make my own holes.
