500m row
40 air squats
30 sit ups
20 push ups
10 pull ups (had to do jumping pull ups)
I did it in around 9 minutes. Worse than average.. boooo
Since my in-laws are members, we get 3 free classes.

I think I'll be joining crossfit once I get my life together. Moved 4 weeks ago and it's still hectic.

My only qualm with CrossFit has always been price. So expensive. Especially when you have 2 household members going.. that shite would pay for 4 couples memberships at most regular gyms. But you do get coaches, which would be even more expensive. And a community, which helps keep you accountable.
I think we're going to start with punch cards and go twice a week to kind of ease into it, then get full memberships after a month or two.

I'll at least get a discount. So that's a plus. The price point is what has kept me away but I've been doing it on my own using pocket WOD app. I like the workouts and I'm usually pretty exhausted after.

SMS you ever got any action from the gym hottie?
But today is leg day and I hates leg day. Plus I have a staff meeting after school.

Look for a spot where they give a couples discount, or inquire about one. Most places will do this. I admit it's still a little pricey, but if you don't like it, jus cancel. If you do like it, it will be easily justified, trust me. My advice, give it 3 months no matter what.

Why are some of the people so against Cross Fit? I am never going to do it, but it seems to me there are people just dead set against anything these people do and it is just sac religious.

my two main theories which i could better explain in person are:
1- people that have made a living owning/personal training/working at normal gyms find it threatening because it is hurting their numbers. The smart gyms are incorporating Crossfit & it is paying dividends
2- Many times CF is marketed to introduce people into fitness. People that have worked out for a long time see themselves as an "authority". They'll tell you it doesn't work, that the coaches all suck, that it is expensive, all because they think there way is the best, without realizing that everyone is motivated differently.
3- Perception is not reality. People think they know what goes on in a normal class, but once I explain to people what we usually fit in an hour, they realize their perception is totally off.
They see the pull-up GIFs, and some of the other stuff posted(that usually isnt even in a CF class), and they think this is all they do.
Classes are very structured. Usually in 3 phases with a warmup, some type of heavy-ish lifting, and then a workout that will generally last anywhere from 8-20min depending on the movements and load.
In reality it is not much different then what a lot of people do in the gym.

They also see the CF games and think that's what every CF workout is going to be like and look like. And it's typically nothing like that.
I think CF in general has largely had a case of bad PR/marketing, and there are some bad gyms that give it a bad name. This is usually where the shitty memes come from.
The only fair criticisms I see coming from people about Crossfit are when the WODs include high volume deadlifts and oly lifts.. someone in the Avatar group posted about this WOD they did recently:
That is a lot of cleans and deadlifts for 2 rounds.. no matter how much you scale the weight, that is still begging for injury IMO, particularly if you're not an elite level athlete.

That's a hero WOD, those are always more challenging and really not for beginners.
even so if you were to do it, scale it as much as needed and even stop if you're not feeling it. Likely if done in a class setting, it would have a time cap, so a lot of people wouldnt even complete it

That's fair. I know of hero WODs, wasn't sure how most boxes handled scaling them.

I just wish I could afford it. I went through a few CF workouts at my friend's home gym for a few weeks and it was the best workouts of my life. Lack of flexibility trying to do some of those things sucks though.
If anyone knows any moderately priced places in New Orleans let me know. Just wish I didn't have to spend over $100 per month.

Yesterday was leg day and yep as always it was no bueno. I hate leg day. Today is 25-30 minute ride on stationary, pallof press, and some tricep work.
BUT the most important thing it is #FLOOZYFRIDAY

Repetition helps with the flexibility. But also spending a little extra time loosening up does wonders.
I think you're looking at $165 minimum for an unlimited membership in New Orleans. Meaning you can freely attend as many classes as possible.
People think it's expensive but turn around and spend $250 a month on their cable bundle. If you liked it, you should commit to it for 3 months & give it a shot. Reassess after that. Maybe it won't be worth it to you, or maybe the programming & community will change your life

I spend $60 a month on a gym and that's probably still too much for what I make at the moment.
So it's really just more of an income issue.

I think it's around $120 in the Houma/Thibodaux area. So not bad but I get the Thibodaux Regional wellness center for $45. Hard to beat. Eventually I'll join crossfit.
