I see a lot of people bashing the jet burners, because of noise and inefficiency. What are some of the best alternatives out there? And if someone is just doing 30-50#'s does it really make a huge difference between the single and double jet burners?

You need a jet burner if your boiling seafood.
Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
No need for a double jet, single works fine IMO.

But that's the only thing you do with a jet burner.

Use a banjo type burner for anything else.

I would stop boiling if forced to use a jet. Horrible.

I would only add the words "large amounts" before boiling seafood. If you're just doing 5lbs of shrimp in a medium sized pot you don't need a jet. You start getting into bigger than 60qt pots for crawfish etc, then yeah, a jet is needed.

I bought a large pot from Basspro and it very cheap, price and quality. It did not have a spigot but the metal was very thin. It works fine as long as you baby it.

I bought mine on the internet. Suggest you go in and take a look.

I don't know if I would want a spigot on mine.
I'd never use it.

I just haul mine to the ditch and dump everything.

And at that price I am sure you are paying extra for it.

FWIW, I sell both in my store.
I sell Bayou Classic..others are very similar.
SP 1 and SP 2 single and double....
For the first batch, it does not matter as much, because you can just start a little earlier to cook..it will take a single longer to heat up the water.
In my opinion, the biggest difference is in doing multiple batches and/or if the wind is blowing hard.

I assuming a 60, 80 or 100 qt pot
If using a 26 to 30 qt, the single will usually work fine.

If you're in Baton Rouge, go check the prices on good pots at Ducote's Restaurant Supply on Florida Blvd. I see in their catalog that they have an 80qt Winco aluminum stock pot for $85. No spigot but I don't know why you would need that really.

What is your opinion on the difference between Stainless and aluminium for the pots?
