I've had Prairie Bomb and some of their other special releases. I love Prairie Bomb, so I'm looking forward to this one. Anyone had it?
ETA: My beer store got some in today and are holding on for me. I will try it tonight.

I didn't think the spices really added anything. I thought regular Bomb! was actually better.

It depends. Some are just really nasty tasting. I just had Southern Tier's 2Xmas. It has way too much of something in it...Just doesn't taste that good.
Some people on here mention St. Bernardus X-mas, but it just tastes like all the other St. Bernardus beers, with a hint of xmas spice. It's very good, but nothing sets it apart.
My favorite is Anchor's X-mas beer. It ages really well and it just tastes like an original and creative christmas beer. I just had a 2012 and it was very good.
Shiner Cheer....

It was nothing special at all IMO. Especially at that price.

It is head and shoulders above regular St Bernardus.

Damn, as soon as I read the title of this thread, I really wanted it to be awesome.

Bomb is an example of the base beer being superior to the variants. Enjoyed reg bomb more than christmas and Bible Belt. (Haven't tried pirate bomb)

I have a pirate bomb in my cellar. I'll probably open it next X-mas.

Christmas bomb was a more subtle BOMB! I had one and really didnt pick up many "Christmas" notes. Not worth the 10 bucks I'm sure they will charge locally for it.

Just picked up a bottle at Whole Foods for $8. Will try later and report back.

Had it on draft. Christmas spice is subtle. Agree with others in the that the base Bomb! is much better. Haven't had any of the other variations, but I heard Brimstone Bomb! was, well, the bomb

I tried the X-mas Bomb and agree with everyone else who has had it. It was good, but the regular bomb is better.

I don't like the "roasty" flavor that much so I am ok with aging this beer to let that mellow. Same goes for the chili spices. I'm ok with that not being so prevelant.
I've had a KBS fresh and a KBS aged 2 years, and IMO the aged one was a lot better tasting.

Stouts: Most anything 8% ABV or higher should develop with time. Russian Imperial Stouts, American Imperial Stouts, some Baltic Porters, Belgian Stouts etc. One of the things to keep in mind when aging these kinds of stouts is some of the adjuncts added. Flavors like coffee, chili spices, bourbon, vanilla and hops typically fade away over time. If you are a big fan of one of these flavors in a limited release you might want to consider drinking them fresh, or only cellaring a few bottles. Aging big stouts like this can also help mellow out that big roasty flavor if that isn’t your thing.
