Will be in Corpus for the next month. Anything I should try while I'm here. What about Rockport or Ingleside? Anything worth stopping by either of them? Will be traveling around those areas.

In Port Aransas my places are Kody's, Giggity's, and Shorty's.

We are very very consistent. Most who live here will refer you to us. Good food good value.

So heres what we got.

Kody's is more family friendly. We have a mini golf course out front. Counter service but you can sit at the bar and get waited on. From garlic fish to tuna tacos to mussels diablo to our crab stuffed jalapenos to grilled giant U7 shrimp. We make it in house and its all good. After 5 we have our dinner features and anything off that list is a great dish.

Giggity's was built for the adults and is 21 and up. Its a restaurant that is more like a bar. We have live music on the weekends. We have some great food also. We set off to contrast Kody's. Full service and with over 30 seats at the bar, its the largest in the area. We are running Fresh Soft shell crabs and fresh ahi tuna for the special right now. The chorizo fries are bad arse. We are about to put smoked amberjack salad on the menu. That's some dam good sh...stuff. We make our own bacon also. The bacon brownie is quite good.

Shorty's the oldest bar in Port Aransas. We don't have much for food except the cheapest boiled shrimp anywhere. 5 Bucks for a half pound. Its my recipe and I aint gonna lie thems dam good shrimp. I took Shorty's over in November when the family could no longer operate it. They wanted someone who would maintain it. Its been around since 1946. Felt kind of good to be respected so much they would come to me to take it over.

Any way as for other places...Corpus food actually sucks. On north padre island I would recommend Johnny D's(sometimes a long wait but hey its good food) and Dragon Fly. That's about it for my recommendations there.

Here in Port A the Venetian Hot Plate is somewhere I like to go. Café Phoenix is another.

Mussels Diablo Kody's

Ahi Tuna with a Asian peanut glaze and 2 Giant u8 shrimp Giggity's

Fresh soft shell with a tomato avocado curry relish

Dessert? Lime-a-Rita Mousse Giggity's

All these pictures making me hungry now.....

Your places as in you own/manage? I grew up in Rockport and have tons of friends that still live in the area and will have to check these out.

Thanks. It all looks good, will have to stop by some time.

La Luna

Actually passed by this place by chance right before I started this thread. See they're only open for breakfast and lunch, unfortunately I won't be there around those times. Maybe one day. That little strip of Rockport right there seems dead in the late afternoons when I pass. Wish more places were open, looks beautiful and wouldn't mind spending some time there.

Latitude something or another in Rockport is excellent (my favorite in the area so far)

Corpus area I would look at Yardarm, Bleu Bistro, Pho Saigon, Vietnam Restaurant (actually a white linen place)

If you're in the mood for a steak Republic of TX or Katz 21 are probably your best options

Brisket at Rudy's BBQ is fantastic

There is a good Filipino restaurant in the Bluff area called Little Manilla Lumpia house or something like that

A few good Thai places

I work in Ingleside and there isn't a lot here. But there is a good Thai place and a good Vietnamese place on Main Street. Vietnamese place is Kim Hai House of Noodles. I forget the name of the Thai place but it's a pink/purple colored cottage that you can't miss. Would probably be considered top 3 Thai place inn Louisiana.

Also while you're here, be sure to get a breakfast taco somewhere. The food here certainly isn't great but you can find some of the best breakfast tacos here.

If you're in Ingleside try City Tortilla Factory on Main St.

Also close to the Ingleside area is a place called Hampton's Landing in Aransas Pass. If you want a view of the water and some great burgers go there.

Thanks.

Know exactly what Thai place you're talking about. Passed it a few times. Stopped and got some Good n Crisp Chicken yesterday nearby. I'm a sucker for fried chicken, wasn't expecting much but left pretty darn satisfied.

The Bakery in Aransas Pass also has pretty good burgers

Sort of a country cracker barrel type place as far as the rest of the food is concerned

Dragonfly is also pretty damn good in the Corpus area

If you're on the south side try Sushi Bar for good sushi and Japanese tapas (and an overall weird arse experience) They have good cocktails there as well.

FWIW, we went to a place in Port Aransas for Father's day. It's heavy on seafood (most of which I'm unfortunately allergic to)

I decided to get the shimp and tenderloin tower. Served with mushroom risotto and veal demi glace. Fantastic.
