My Dad had a PK grill when I was young.

I purchased one and it was delivered today!

Anyone else have one? Any tips or recipes?

Thanks!

I don't know about special recipes. I can tell you that the cast aluminum body is the best ever! It will never, never rust. Just replace the grills about every 3-4 years and you have a lifetime grill.

I hate to admit it, but I coveted my best friend's father's PK for years. Then I spotted one in somebody's trash and I couldn't help myself. I've never regretted it. Saved about $300 bucks.

Not mine, but mine is just like this. Could be bigger, but I can live with it.

Have had one in Grand Isle since 1980. It came with our camp. Have replaced the grill several times. Cast Aluminum in Grand Isle is the way to go. Guess the BGE would last well there also.

S Rat, is that a portable "kitchen" grill, and why do they call it that?

Rat, thanks for the replys.

I put it together last nite.

The box looked like it had been opened so I was worried some parts might be missing.

Everything was there, assembly was ez and I'm looking forward to an inaugural cook this weekend!

I'm guessing mine is the older model made when the original owners made them. The newer ones have a hinge on the short side, which seems awkward to me. I guess they did that for safety reasons - so the smoke and steam billows away from your face when you open it.

I bought one because my father-in-law had one he bought in 1967, his other daughter took it when he died 10 years ago. It is the best at indirect cooking.

If you want to make beer can chicken take the grill out and put a pan on the grate, I use disposable aluminum, you can fit 2 fat fryers in. Also get a disposable turkey roasting pan under the fire side to catch all the ashes when they fall through the vent.

I hose it out a couple of times a year, likely have it till my son steals it.
