I have a co-worker who is retiring soon. He is from Liverpool. What are some popular spirits from that city (or part of the UK) that would give him a feeling of home? When you ask him what he likes, he replies with the "you don't have to get me anything" line. So, I need some ideas. Thanks!

You may have better luck finding an answer on the soccer board in the Liverpool thread. Be careful though they may be a little angry because their team is shite right now. Tell them you're a manchester united fan that should help you get a good response.

Pimms is popular in the UK but not here, although it's more popular in the south than the north. Also, some of 'bitters' (and by that I mean beer) from over there like Boddingtons, I would think would give a feeling of home.

You really won't find scotch or whiskey made in Liverpool. I would look to gin or beer. You might just find out what he likes. He might like bourbon or Budweiser. I had a friend from Ireland who loved Budweiser - go figure. Or their might be a wine he likes. You might try this though Liverpool Gin
