I'm not talking some hogtrough that serves just huge portions of crap. But it can be burger joints or something like that that is "exceptional".

Alright, what are your spots?

Generally, my fiance likes small plates and sushi and vietnamese, so that's pretty much what we get. And I like that stuff so its fine. But when she's not around (and she's out of town this weekend), I like to grab some lunch with some friends or something and I want something awesome and generally shitty for me.

Places like Cochon and Cochon Butcher, Mr. John's or Dat Dog, or Cowbell.

Does upscale mean your one night to eat out?

Not sure what you're looking for here. You say in the thread title you want something relatively "upscale" then you say you want a lunch spot, something that's shitty for you, and then list Dat Dog as a place for comparison.

I was searching for the right words. I just meant not shitty bar food.

And I'm not really personally searching for help with anything. Just attempting to generate conversation.

I need to give this place another try because my friends raved about it but I didn't really enjoy anything I had on my first trip.

So, basically you want meat?

-All of your choices are good. Throw Boucherie in the mix. Also, it isn't my favorite, but Charlie's Steak House sounds right up your alley.
