Pizza Artista - Lafayette

I've tried it recently for the first time and was pleasantly surprised because I had no idea what to expect. I went with a few people who had to have their pizza fix.
It's sort of like a Subway concept since you have a choice of crust (traditional or whole grain), then a choice of a few different sauces, then you're sent down the line where you tell the next person what you want on it. All of the ingredients are laid out in front of you. Then there's a cashier, and another guy firing all the pizzas. I didn't take note to see if it was a wood burning oven or gas, but the pizzas didn't take long at all (thin crust).
The pizzas were a perfect personal size for us. Some of the items have an upcharge, but other than that it's one flat rate for each pizza. My pizza included a $2 upcharge item and my bill came out to about $17 after tax, tip and a bottle of Canebrake. They even have vegan "cheese" which my friend ordered, so if you're a vegan or lactose sensitive you can still enjoy a pizza. I even noticed that each person changed their gloves for the vegan pizza and she was informed that they would use a different peel as well. Part of the excellent customer service. Tons of topping options.
The customer service was exceptional and they weren't at a loss for business. There was continuously a line of about 5+ deep and they were firing the pizzas one after another. I'm guessing they'll be here to stay. Would recommend.

I ordered off waitr app last week and was pretty disappointed. They were pretty stingy with the toppings....like 1" x 1" areas with nothing but cheese
Eta: I got classic cajun

That's where you went wrong, waitr. I, like Degas, was very surprised by this place. Lafayette has no other pizza place that offers the combinations, quality, and finished pizza you get for the price. If you're going to order pizza delivered just call the big boys. You really need to try Pizza Artista in person. It's by far my favorite here and I don't miss the others. I try a different combo every time, there is just so much to choose from and all of it is great. If you are one of those that needs EVERY SQUARE inch of the pizza covered with the toppings you want, stick to Pizza Village or Deano's. Artista is much closer to a true NY style pizza you will find here. While I enjoy Deano's, I much prefer Pizza Artista, and no I don't know the owners or have any interest in the franchise, it's just damn good. Try it again Fin, just go inside and make your own. It's not fancy but the quality of the end product is surprising.

I was just what I expected...vanilla pizza...won't return.
Pizza Village or go home.

I can choose the same toppings on waitr that I can if I go there. Sorry but it wasn't even close enough to give another shot.

I guess if you like a mouthful of browned ground meat, overly seasoned with black pepper, and brine shrimp in every bite.
Crumble up a leftover hamburger patty on a saltine cracker and top with black pepper, you'll have Pizza Village.

This is the picture of the pizza I ordered on their website:
I really wish I would have taken one of what I got because it looked nothing like that. Maybe 1/4 the toppings

I'm with you.. I really don't like pizza that is overloaded with toppings. In fact plain cheese pizza is a top 5 pizza choice for me

Thanks. I just might hit it if I find myself in Lafayette. I ate at a similar concept in Vegas called 800 Degrees Pizzeria. I liked the experience, but since it was so busy, the wood fired oven cooled enough so that the pizza crust wasn't fully cooked. I still ate it.

Based on the number of vehicles in their parking lot, I would assume LOTS of people would agree that Pizza Village makes great tasting pizza. I also don't think they would still be in business if they didn't make great pizza. Your loss if you don't like their pizza.
But i'd bet they won't be in business for 40+ years like Pizza Village has been.
To each his/her own.
