Going for the Coolinary menu.
Looks really good, I have never been here before.
What's the dress code? Do I need a coat or jacket? tie?
Just curious.
I haven't had lobster in a while and saw that on the menu. excited about the wine pairings as well.

It's definitely a coat and tie place.

frick..... I don't have any good summer coats.
Posted on 8/7/15 at 3:45 pm to Napoleon
I just called and they said "business casual" no jacket required

its been awhile -- but i dont recall it being a place youd feel underdressed without a coat... especially in august.
i havent seen the coolinary, but my meals have all been good there for similar events (i think the xmas menu a few years ago was the last time i went, and likely the same).
the food can be dated, but its tasty

We did their coolinary last summer and it was great. They always have the best special menus. I have never had anything bad there.

You're fine. Too damn hot to wear a coat anyways.

Ill be your dissent. Place is to be avoided. Dated food, not particularly well executed, and expensive to boot.

+1, best thing about the place is the great location and decent bar. It's a pre Katrina 'good' place. Times have passed them by.

Dated food
will it blow your mind or be adventurous, no. but im ok with "classics" occasionally. wouldnt be my 1 meal in nola, but dated isnt the end of the world

the couple times ive been were a few years ago, but didnt have this problem. just me and its been awhile, but not a problem ive seen.

expensive to boot.
for things like coolinary, absolutely not expensive

Only really going because if the $38 coolinary menu with $22 wine pairing.
Figure it will be a nice night out, go to the movies after then to walk the quarter a little.
In the "Coolinary" thread a few people had mentioned it, and having never gone before I figured it would be a good place to go.

We came in town last weekend and ate a few places, but only Cafe Degas had the menu (didn't order it, and felt like morons for BYOBing...advice from someone on this site).
Side note, the sushi joint V was fricking hilarious. Techno strip club style vibe with servers wearing head sets and all. We laughed out asses off. The sea urchin was good though.

Thats a $60 a person send before tax and tip. Read the fine print, half the entrees have an up charge
Posted on 8/7/15 at 6:46 pm to BlackenedOut
$60 for 3 courses plus 3 glasses of wine is noteworthy expensive?
And 2 entrees and 1 app have up charges for a combined $13 total (5, 5, 3)... I get you don't like it, but....

For 60 bucks a person, I think you can eat better in New Orleans elsewhere. Especially when one of the courses is a dessert. A bunch of wines by the glass that some distributor hasnt been able to sell and gives a great deal to a restaurant doesnt move me either. Sorry.

No need for apology- you could do better, but I'd venture you could do much worse too is all I'm saying. Hung up on the wine? Snag 3 cocktails.... Or are you going to complain they are short pouring watered down well liquor?
$60 for 3 drinks, app, entree and dessert and in a premium location? 7 buck app, $24 entree, 7 for dessert and 3 $7 drinks? None of that is worth calling out for price points.
Won't be a meal featured in any hot restaurant guides but if you can get over the idea of your food being dated (BFD but if that bugs you it's definitely not the place to go), it's a fine date and stroll around the quarter spot once in a blue moon.
I think I've eaten there 3 times in the last decade, so it's not like I'm arguing it's can't miss or have a horse in this race.

How can y'all not own any half or no lined jackets? What happens if y'all do have to wear a jacket somewhere in August.?

Eating here now. frick the spineless management and waiters. There is a twelve top being so loud that I can't even talk across my table.
All the other tables have complained and no manager showed up.
This is the worst. I just want it to hurry up and be over.
Plus the dress code is a joke. People in pfg shirts and shorts. Appetizers were good, but this is louder than a sporting event in here, not the atmosphere I wanted.
