Sorry if this has been discussed a ton - I searched and couldn't find a definitive answer. I've seen recipes that use 8 cups stock/lb of pasta and some that are 4 c/lb pasta.

Look at the jambalaya calculator. Theres a pastalaya page on it.

I looked at the calculator and the related threads. There is no ratio for pastalaya. It just says fill pot to an inch from the top of pot.

I usually cook the water out of the stock then go 2/1 water to pasta 2 lbs pasta = 4 lbs water
but if you have a lot of stock just guess how much and use the rest water.
Pasta is very forgiving on water as is the par-boiled rice on Jamba

How much is 4 lbs of water?
And when I say stock I mean stock/water/whatever liquid you are using

I use a quart of water per pound of rice, but for pastalaya you are going to need a little more water. Noodles are way more forgiving than rice

4 lbs is about a half gallon I believe
A tad less

A gallon of water weighs 8.33 pounds. So 4 lbs of water is a little less than 2 quarts (1.92 qts).
A pound of rice is 2 1/2 cups. 4 pounds of rice is 10 cups (1 1/4 qts).
The amount of uncooked pasta that equals a certain amount of cooked pasta depends on the pasta shape.
By volume (cups or fluid oz.), pasta generally doubles in size.
By dry weight, 4 oz will give you 2 cups (volume). Said another way, a pound of pasta will yield about a gallon of cooked pasta, depending on shape.

Sorry, thought they had a better measurement.
I'd go a little more than 2 parts water to 1 part pasta. So 1lb of Pasta to 32 oz or 1 quart of liquid

3 cups liquid per pound of pasta.

1 qt of water to 1 lb of pasta works well for me.

The ratio that I always use is three ounces of liquid for each ounce of pasta, regardless of the type of pasta.
8oz. of pasta (half pound) = 24 oz. of liquid (3 cups)
16 oz. of pasta(one pound) = 48 oz. of liquid (6 cups)
And so on ...
I like to make it with the little 7 oz. Mexican bags of pasta... that's why I broke it down all the way to an ounce to ounce ratio.
Of course, my recipe doesn't use ingredients with additional liquids, like canned tomatoes or "cream of whatever" soups.
I just use meats, seasonings, a little kitchen bouquet, and the above pasta to liquid ratio. Comes out moist, but not soupy.
