Glass top electric.... FAIL

Looks real good Dog! What kind of under-cabinet lights did you use. Mine are T-5's and I'm thinking of switching to LED's but they need to be less than 1" thick.

Nice
I'm in the middle of my own kitchen remodel. Your pics have inspired me to get my arse moving. I may post pics of before and after in here.

Get rid of the glass cooktop in favor of a gas range and that'd be my dream kitchen.
I mean it's decent and all, but dream kitchen? Wtf?

You bring that old BBQ pit with you? It's got to be close to my age....35.

Looks really nice MD. Time for you to post some recipes out of that kitchen.

GE Premium LED Strips - plug in variety. they come as plug in and direct wire. The sockets for the top lights are wired to the light switch on the wall and I fished the power wires down from the top to the bottom. You plug the first strip into the socket and the other strips plug into the first, second and so on.
24 inch model at Home Depot
I used 12 inch strips, 18 inch strips, 24 inch strips and 36 inch strips, depending on the cabinet.
I liked these because they had an LED bulb every inch or so and had a low and high switch setting.
A little pricey but they claim to last a long time. I am certain you could buy cut them yourself strips and make your own custom lighting. This just seemed easier to me.

Where in Clinton?
I grew up there and the majority of my family is still living there.

Yes I did. It is an old friend, sitting on the back deck. The catfish cooker is on the screen porch waiting for a cabinet I will build to store it between uses. I'll do photos another day.
There is no way I would leave the BBQ smoker anywhere. We go too far back together. I did buy new grill work for it last year but haven't used it yet. The old grills haven't collapsed yet.

East side Cascades. I grew up in Byrd Heights on the west side of town, we moved there in 61 when I was in 6th grade. Graduated from CHS way back when Bill Clinton was a cub scout.

If my math is correct (never is) your formative time in Clinton would have just missed the WZZQ years - I'm gonna guess WRBC/WWUN provided your musical soundtrack.
Back to cooking, was your old kitchen gas? If so I'll be curious how you make the transition from gas to electric, plus if the new/different color temperature of the indirect LED lighting in your new kitchen -- vs. the original -- has any effect.
Just some random thoughts from an engineering mind. Kitchen looks great. Congrats.

Hi DT. Yes, I grew up with "Jocky Jim" McCullough at WRBC out on far North State Street, WWUN came later and there was always WOKJ "The black Spot on your radio dial" down on Lynch Street.
I actually remember the sock hops at the old Wahabi Shrine Temple on West Capitol Street and the Waggoner Club behind and above the Mayflower Café downtown Jackson. Also Teen Tempos on Saturday afternoons on Channel 3. Bought Wine once or twice from Red Hydrick across the pearl on Old Brandon Road. Went to the Varia, Skyview and Showtime USA Drive In Movies. Ate Pizza at Shakey's in Fordren Place across from the Capri. Saw movies at Paramount and Lamar theatres, also Royal one block west of Old Capitol. Remember Three Krystal burger joints downtown and the Pig Stand beside and connected to the Lamar Theater. Drank Country Club Malt liquor in the short cans. Last memory, cruising Shoney's parking lot at Westland Plaza. Oh I forgot, The Old Time Delicatessen at Colonial Mart on the corner of Northside Drive and I-55.
Good days.
We have owned 15 houses total, some gas and some electric ranges. The last 14 years in Meridian were electric and I have no problem cooking on an electric range. They just respond slower than gas, nothing more than that. Once you understand that they cook fine.
I like the LED color range. Our lights seem to be toward the blue spectrum, and that is different from incandescent and fluorescent that we have had in the past. The cost of LED is stiff right now, but I will never buy another incandescent or fluorescent bulb if I can avoid them. The life span of a LED is just too good and the KW power requirements are conserving. As I get older, I appreciate the brightness of LED more and more, helping out my old tired eyes.
I see where some consider an electric range a failure. There is no gas here so I will just have to suffer one more failure in my otherwise failure filled life.

They have never cooked on an induction cook top and experienced the ease of cleaning and the insane ability to titrate the temperature.
BTW your kitchen looks great!!!!

I have the exact same appliances except for the oven, I went with the profile double oven 5 burner stovetop (gas), love them all. The hidden water dispenser in the fridge is nice and gives the door a lot cleaner look. Pic of stove during our remodel.
Dishwasher is the quietest I have ever heaver not heard as well.

Are you doing this yourself and farming out to subs or do you have a GC? Definitely looks good!

Farming out to subs, although the cabinet guys are doing most of it. They did the demolition and have set the cabinets and coutertops. We (the wife and I) did the backsplash and the lighting. We had a plumber do the sink demolition, the sink and disposal install and the dishwasher. The cabinet guys are coming back maybe this week to do the vent hood and replace two cabinet doors. At that point it is finished.

No, I have seen her photos and she has nothing to be jealous about. We got the drawer pulls the wife wanted after looking at maybe a bozillion options.
