I just had the lunch special and it was the best CFS in town. The mashed red potatoes were damn good too. Too bad they only serve it on Tuesdays. If the rest of their daily specials are this good I may have found a new spot in the Perkins/ Essen area for lunch.

Dempsey's CFS is really good too. I wish they had not closed the Jefferson location.

I wish I could get over there for lunch during the week. They have my favorite brunch in town.

What's the portion size at Olive or Twist. The pics of it look small.

Sammys is good when the meat is not burnt to a crisp. I've noticed that the food at Sammys is prepared better at lunch time.

Everything they cook has some weird spice in it. Its like they go out of their way to make bad food when leaving just one ingredient out would make it good.

Mustard.

At least that's what I thought last time I went... everything had a bit of mustard powder to it.

Tried it out for dinner last night w/ family (first visit).

Appetizer of the Crawfish Beignets. They were good and the aioli was a nice compliment to them.

I had the Dirty South Chicken Sandwich. Almost a tempura type batter that was a little overcooked, but still tasty (homemade pickles and honey mustard worked well with it).

Wife and son had the Buffalo Chicken and Waffles. They both really liked the chicken, but weren't sold on the waffles - which were a savory waffle. They both thought it would have been better if the hot sauce that was served with it had some syrup in it to add some sweet to that savory.

Daughter had the Pepper Jelly Short Ribs which she said were cooked well, but did not have any flavor. I tried them and she was correct in that, but when you mixed the gorgonzola/garlic grits and pepper jelly you got a more complete taste.

Service was slow at first, but got better after the orders were placed. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night. Would go back.
