I'm looking to take the GF out to celebrate in New Orleans, we've done Galatoires, Clancys, etc.

Looking to find a nice fine dining restaurant that isn't necessarily well known. The kind of thing a local, hometown foodie would know more so than the tourist traps.

TIA.

I would second the Coquette recommendation, especially for its 5-course blind tasting with wine pairings.

I would also put in a strong recommendation for Bayona if you have not been. It is well known, and has been, but it really does not appear on many top lists these days and does not seem to appeal as much to a touristy crowd (especially considering that is in the French Quarter).

I would personally avoid Square Root if you want something off the beaten path. The dinner there is good, but I don't think it is worth the cost, and the restaurant seems almost exclusively focused on people visiting the city.

solid, though I have never had Meauzbar, I would add in Patois. Glassman gave me that recommendation and we loved it.

Thanks all. I will look into their menu offerings.

Also open to anything else that people can think of. We aren't going for another week or so.

I will throw in Rue 127-really great food. It's in mid city so you could hop on the streetcar and get right off. After dinner hop across the street to Brocatos for dessert.

I also second Lilette.

I would've recommended the Southern Inn, but I think that is probably a little too far off of the beaten path.

I wouldn't call it "off the beaten path", but if you haven't been to Gautreau's, I recommend it as a consideration.
