It's just off 5th Avenue.. you can head downtown to Union Square or back up to Rockefeller Center in just a few blocks.. It's worth it for lunch, I'd say.. It's a good experience.. Nice atmosphere.

Patzeria for a quick lunch. It's on 46th between Broadway and 8th I believe, right next to the church of scientology. Try a few slices but the grandma's slice is outstanding.

New York is very tricky.. You can't just walk around and think you're going to see everything.. A lot of the streets are residential and you'll get stuck seeing nothing if you don't plan..
Print these out for plane reading.. Get a map of the city.. It's also a good idea to take in the museums or art galleries in the area..

It's just most of midtown for non-tourists is so blah. Shopping and Times square. If you're there for that, midtown is where it's at

Depends.. You can check out MOMA, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, (if it's nice out, go to the Top of the Rock) NY Public Library, Bryant Park, Grand Central.. These are places I like to go to chill and connect with the city.. If there's no weekday hustle and bustle, so much the better.

I just went to NYC and stayed by MSG. It was perfect and we had a blast, but my crew can have a good time in Biloxi. Just wanted to learn about the "fun areas". It's too simple to get around IMO to not be in a fun area.

perch was one of my favorite spots in park slope. hate to hear that it closed.
rose water, bell house and blueprint are good little brunch/lunch places in that area as well.

You can have a good time in any of the areas of Manhattan.. You just can't expect it to be like the French Quarter where there's fun in every square foot. A lot of the city is residential, and a lot of the city (Like Lower Manhattan) is business. You have to know people that live there and can show you around or do some research and ask around to find out what's happening, when and where.. New York can be "insiders only" and very non-tourist friendly.. That's why I posted the walking tours and the New York Magazing online site, so when you go you can read up on the areas and have an idea of what you want to see and how much you're going to spend when you get there.

The closest thing you're gonna get to a to-go cup area is Bleecker Street.. It runs behind NYU (New York University) and connects the East Village to the West Village.. Good bars to hear live music, chill and have a casual lunch or dinner.
