Understood. They are unfortunately about 40 years too late. The area was engulfed by Chinatown - which is itself under siege and the remaining places represent the original scene as much as Epcot Center.

Look it's not all bad. Rubirosa is solid, DiPalo's is a great Italian market and a sandwich from Parisi's is hard to beat. Ferrara's for pastry.

If it was my vacation I would get up and head to Parisi's bakery a little before 8am. Get a potato/pepper/egg on roll and walk over to Spring Lounge when they open at 8am. Order a drink and watch the neighborhood walk by and the cross section of characters that walk through the doors. The conversation is generally lively and varied. After that you never know where the day may take you.

No shite there were way more asians than italians. Ended up at da gennaro. Veal parm was really good. Alfredo was really good, as were the stuffed shells. Lots of high pressure sales tactics with people from each place trying to hustle you into their place.

Did the high line and ended up at artichoke for dinner. Very good pizza. We did they variety thing. Had pepperoni, meatball parm, stayen island and one with lobster sauce and sirimi. The seafood one was kind of strange but tasted pretty good. Their bread was awesome. Could have made a meal out of just the bread.

Ellens was fun. Food was ok. The waiters take turns singing and actually sing pretty good
