So NOLA is releasing a few sours within the next month
and for some reason they left off Arabella
a few questions:
1 - Are they any good?
2 - Anyone know if these will make there way up to north LA?

NOLA Brewing will release the first of its series of sour beers in large format bottles within the month. Lowerline, an American wild ale fermented with lactobacillus, will be the first to hit the market, followed by Sauvage, which is its Rebirth Pale Ale fermented with brettanomyces, and then Piety, a wild ale fermented with lactobacillus and brettanomyces and barrel aged with tart cherries.

They are good. I prefer the Lowerline and Arabella over the other two. However I was really enjoying the last batch of Sauvage. I've found that even people who don't like sours can find something in the line up they will like.
They will reach wherever you like through the BXN my friend.

So bayou teche released their 5 Year Anniversary Persimmon Sour:
quote:
Worst smelling beer I've ever encountered. I don't review beer, but I couldn't let this slide. Worst beer I've ever come across. It's worse than Billy's Chilies, which was basically liquid nachos. Wow. Truly, truly awful.
quote:
Tried on tap at the brewery. Smell is overwhelming hot garbage and vomit, distinctive of butyric acid produced from the quick sour method they used that got out of hand. If you can block out the garbage, the taste is actually decent: medium sourness, lemons, grain, with a nice note of the persimmons they used. Overall, I can't get past the smell as it is an obvious mistake that was not intended. Had to basically hold my nose to finish half a pint that was split with someone. I can't believe that this was released.

It literally smells like a bag of assholes.

so we got that up here recently but BMoney told me to stay away

im intrigued about this venture for them. By nd large sours tend to end up being the slowest selling and most expensive. I supposee in moderate batches this can work for them. At least it might open up a lot more people to what sour beers are like.
Way to be brave Nola

The smell was just awful. It was like someone let cheese rot inside a sweaty gym sock.

Can you find these two outside of the brewery yet?

I'd like to try these, if any of you come across extras

That may be one of the best reviews I've read.

They were pouring these at Huna, and they got some really good reviews. With the caliber of stuff poured there, it's pretty impressive

Some people said if you get past that, it's actually pretty good.
I did not try it or buy a bottle yesterday though.

I would like to say it isn't this bad, but it's really this bad.

hey, it's what some people are saying. I'll skip it. I did buy one of their new ones, syrup in the sky, which is a smoked wheat and rye fermented with steens cane syrup and pistachios in Evan Williams barrels.
I'm very confused and have no idea what to expect, however I will be fully prepared to tetu that bitch with the swiftness.

I doubt the places you hang out, Sammich/Ale, will have them.

I didn't even realize he was one of the other reviews. That's homerism at it's finest right there I tell you.
