Or maybe I'll go sit at the bar @ August tonight after work since she's going out of town.
Now your talking.
That August menu is insane.

Keep that on the DL though brah she'd be pissed
I think she can miss one. She's been living pretty good lately.

It's a ragu, not a dish that needs an extremely delicate hand.
I know exactly what it is. I stand behind my comments. I don't get that dish at all. It just tasted like a muddled mess to me. A terrible, one note, bitter, mess. But hey that's just me.

I'm doing Apolline Saturday night and I'm pretty certain I'm not doing the set menu. I'm not big on confit anything. I usually find it to be dry...even at Gautreau's.
Commander's for lunch tomorrow.
Thinking of hitting August tonight.

Not a bad week.

Not bad at all. I did Emeril's and Criollo for Coolinary. Can't complain. After this week, it's back to being healthy. I just can't pass up these great deals!

It looks like Tivoli & Lee has already lost their chef.
NOLA
Haven't tried it yet, but had heard good things.
I'm getting concerned how many properties Neal Bodenheimer and co. are opening. They need to improve some of these places before opening another. I'm not a huge fan of Beloque, and don't think they're doing that well.

Ouch. If memory serves me correctly, he wasn't the first chef they had?
I'm pretty excited about the bowling alley.

The sauce on the lemonfish was to die for.
i polished off 2 things of bread sopping that sauce up. oxtail and bone marrow was very earthy but it was a great dish. wife and i got the entire rw menu and were very satisfied. the flavors in the panna cotta had my tase buds dancing. only complaint was i ate the damn lemon filled chocolate that came with the bill as my last bite there
some pics:

going to criollo tomorrow for lunch

Our fish dish looked totally different. Maybe that is the price we paid for going late. We didn't get near that amout of sauce and didn't have potatoes or whatever that is under the fish.

Did Apolline last night and really enjoyed myself.
I avoided the RW menu as it was pretty meh.
My group ordered: (ETA) pics added
Smoked Crab Tacos. They were delicious, had a touch of paprika or something to add the smokeyness. It was a pleasant start.
Dirty Duck Balls. Had them before and they were also very good, the sauce it's served with is worth home replication.
Beef Carpaccio. It was well prepared and had an excellent color. The greens on top were drizzled with a little oil which really set the whole plate off.
Entrees: I had dinner with what amounts to two 14 year olds.
One friend ordered the scallop dish, she really enjoyed it. The scallops seemed to be good size and had a nice sear that I prefer.
The other friend ordered the Kansas City Strip. I've never seen it on the menu before, if I missed it I would never order it. It seemed fine and my friend devoured it as if it was his last meal.
I ordered the Lamb Osso Bucco, it was phenomenal. Only issue was the outside parts were a tad overcooked. It wasn't bad but harsher texture then I'm used to with OB. The sauce was great and once you reached the center you were in heaven.
Great all around experience, as the food and service was first rate.
I did order a gimlet that I didn't care for but my old fashion was on point.

So glad you enjoyed Apolline. It's a favorite of mine. I love their Carpaccio! The soy ginger drizzle is a great take on it!
And thanks for the review and pictures!

You live over there.
ETA: Last night felt like ladie's night. 12-1 girl to guy ratio. Mostly > 50. Is that common?
I've been 5-6x, I need to try the happy hour. It's a solid deal and I live close enough.

LOL I really don't. I've had dinner there twice and I've been to happy hour once. And I'm going to dinner there tomorrow night. I really want to try their brunch. $8 bottomless mimosas is a sweet deal.
As far as the demographic, it seems to be an older crowd, but I have never found it to be heavy on women vs. men. Usually seems to be couples or tables with 2 couples.

Sitting in Criollo right now . . . hmmmm seafood gumbo or salad? Grilled cobia, softshell crab or osso bucco? Dilemma
Posted on 9/13/13 at 1:31 pm to VOR
