I'm currently finishing my last year here at LSU and before I go I want to say I have experienced it all (or as much as one can). I have pretty much eaten at a majority of the big name, highly reviewed places in NOLA. What are some suggestions of places to go that you feel are not talked about, but a staple to you when you think of eating in NOLA?

Come to Harahan and eat at Charles. Best charbroiled oysters in the state, $1.75 draft beer, $8.95 full Shrimp poboys, and $20 seafood platter that comes with two sides, gumbo, and a salad.

Wait, I thought Charlies closed? That's the place that Brigtsen had right?

Edit: I see now that it reopened under new ownership. Is it as good as it was before?

Brigsten had it and it closed

It opens back up under new management about 2 years ago

I am not screwing around about the oysters. And I honestly think it is one of the best deals around for seafood

Rivershack on RR though I guess not technically in NOLA city limits.

Certainly not New Orleans cuisine, but I always promote Carmo.

For more authentic New Orleans cuisine try: Liuzzas, Liuzzas by the Track, Katie's, Seither's, or Sammy's.

Have you hit Rocky and Carlo's? If not this is a must. Technically outside NOLA, but worth every second of the drive. Also Dong Phoung for their Bahn Mi. Get the #4

Coop's. Best gumbo in Nola...yeah, I said it. Also, the "Cajun pasta" is excellent.
