Newk's offering Banh Mi

Flame away FDB'ers- I like Newk's and I got an e-mail today that they introduced a pork belly sandwich with pickled carrots, cilantro and jalapeños. It piqued my interest so I ordered one for dinner. I've never tried pork belly before (limited options in Shreveport), but I thought the sandwich was really good- tender meat, spicy jalapeño, carrots had good pickled flavor. I Slathered a little Sriracha and dug in.

I like Newks, and I like banh mi. I don't expect Newks to serve the best version of an ethnic dish, but I'll definitely give it a try.

I love eating at Newks. High quality food at a fair price. Best thing to ever come out of Mississippi imo and it's not even close.

Yeah. They left off the cilantro which was a little disappointing, but overall it was really good.

(Assuming you're in BR) Newks is good and all, but if you wanted to try pork belly you should have driven around the corner to City Pork - pork belly sandwich there is awesome.

I ate it the other day. I had never had pork belly either. I thought it was really tasty.

I've eaten Newk's twice. Both times gave me diarrhea. Never again.

Their grilled pork Banh Mi is definitely top notch, but they have no pork belly, which is kind of disappointing. I don't like their pho as much as Danh's, though.
Hijack- Danh's and Pho L'Amour should merge so we could get the best pho and the best Banh Mi at the same restaurant.

Danhs had a bahn mi shop in Bossier for a few months but it closed pretty quick
