Marti's just opened in the old Peristyle location; Dumaine and N Rampart. Marti's was actually the predecessor restaurant, and was considered nouvelle cuisine back in the 70's. New owner also runs Gautreau's. Should be good.

I talked with the interior designer at the bar in the Sycamore House in BSL about it. Glad to see it done. He sounded like he was proud of the work they were doing, so that must mean they have him a good budget.

If I could wave a magic wand and bring back two restaurants in NOLA they would be Persityle (with Anne Kearney) and Bruning's.
Looking forward to trying Marti's.

The menu is a contemporary riff on Parisian brasseries, Singley said, with dishes such as Atlantic cod Provencal, grilled quail, roasted bone marrow and a major emphasis on oysters and chilled seafood presentations.
very nice. looking forward to giving this place a ride.

A couple of years ago, there was some renovation work going on at the same place, and the rumor was that Ann and Peristyle was returning. Marti's appears to be a hell of a consolation prize.

anyone been since the opening? Thinking about it this weekend.

coworker went a few weeks ago and said it was really good, but not phenomenal. fwiw.
I'm going to give it a go some time in the next couple months.

Nice, thats all I needed. Will bump with a small review later this weekend.
ETA: Scratch that going to Revolution instead.

curious, what made you change your mind?
also .. Revolution is a pretty polarizing restaurant. some hate it, some think it's great. I fall in the middle. it can certainly get expensive quick and if their service and/or kitchen is off that night you may leave unhappy.

I don't know if I "hate it," but I think that it's a horribly ill-conceived restaurant.
I'd probably choose giving this Marti's a try over that every time. Having never been to Marti's, of course.

Same, I thought it was good, but not phenomenal.

Honestly...I had minimal say in the decision and I think the girls in the group pushed Revolution over Martis because of a couple bad reviews from friends.
I've never been to either so I couldn't say much. We are going a little early so hopefully service won't be much of an issue.

Let us know what yourself and the ladies think about it. My personal favorites are the death by gumbo, turtle soup and trio of quail. beef tartare was pretty good too.

thafrick?
I went for brunch and it wasn't on the menu. I got a blue rare filet anyway, but now I have to go back and see if they'll serve tartare at the bar.
Marti's menu looks better IMO.

Yea...I was eyeing that Quail dish on Martis menu. But that trio sounds good as well.

My mom got the turtle soup, @ R'evolution, and the tiny deviled quail eggs were a hit. They pour the soup into the bowl and it perfectly fills to the top of the little eggs, with only the filling showing. Great touch.
