NEIPA trends in HTX
Posted by Tiger Ryno on 5/15/17 at 3:58 pm21
Several breweries are taking a stab at the NEIPA style now. I believe that's a great thing for beer in HTX.
To my knowledge Copperhead, spindletap, baa baa, and No Label have already or are about to release a version of this style. I know No Label is canning theirs and it will be a year rounder.
The only one I've tried is the copperhead feeding frenzy and it was a good representation. The water profiling on that one is dialed in.
Are any of yall aware of any others working on a NEIPA offering? Anyone tasted any of the others coming out yet?

Doesn't Whole Foods have one?

Wouldn't be a Ryno thread without a little trolling.
Almost all of Whole Foods hoppy beers are in the same style - lots of late hops, Conan house yeast. They're finally starting to dial in the mouth feel (Haze Phaze) but I've enjoyed all the others.
Eureka Heights tried making one -- business time. Fell pretty flat.
I haven't had BaaBaa or No Label, but Feeding Frenzy has been my favorite.

B52 made a nice hazy juice bomb, wheeze the juice, but they didn't want to officially call it a neipa. I'd put it in that category.

And of course the target of my fanboi-dom, Ingenious, whose IPA offerings will be almost exclusively NE style.

My sources tell me they are battling with Harris County on permits due to the brewpub designation. The city of humble is ready to sign on the dotted line for the city permits, and the builder/architect has said they can get it up and running in 60 days once they are given the green light.

Spindle Tap Houston Haze was a solid stab at the style. I prefer some of the Whole Foods offerings though. I have yet to try feeding frenzy...need to though.
It is nice to have a couple other NEIPA options in the market though.
