I lurk this board pretty regularaly but do not post often. The wife and I are going to Stroubes for the first time tonight and I was hoping the experts on this board could help answer a few questions.
1) what is the dress like for this place. Is a suit and tie overkill?
2)any must haves? looking at the menu I am torn between the Duck Duo, Double Down Pork or the Lamb Rack. Any comments on these dishes would be welcome.
3)How is the mushroom risotto?

the menu on the website is a little old, they changed it about 3 weeks ago. The lamb rack is no longer available, nor is the seabass entree. You dont need a suit. slacks and a nice shirt is fine.

suit and tie is overkill for anywhere in BR aside from Maison Lacour and maybe Juban's but that's a stretch.

I've only been for lunch to Stroube's, but I enjoyed the grilled oysters i had as an app. I had a cochon de lait dish that was the lunch special that was awesome as well.

Went there Saturday night. I think they may be rethinking the menu changes, since they made it a point to say that the lamb was available.

I have been a big fan of this place, but I noticed a little slip in their game on Saturday. Not ready to give up on them though.

Menu change was meant to streamline things and hide increased prices/smaller portions imo.

I was there Saturday as well and left a little bit disappointed and not happy about the menu change either..

The appetizers were still great , had the chargrilled oysters and the Pork belly.

The Lamp lollipop is not on the menu, but the waiter said they still had it.

The Crab, corn brie bisque was not as good as usual.

I was looking forward to trying the Lobster Raviloi - no longer available.

So had the Ribs this time, Yet I see it now comes with Fries instead of rice dressing... Really French Fries .. come on

The ribs had great flavor but were overdone to the point of being somewhat dry..

I hope it was just a bad night

Whatever you do, don't order steak at a place that's called "Stroubes - Seafood & Steaks"

That's a bit of overkill.

Duck Duo
I like it. Have not had the other dishes you mentioned.

It's very good.

Tip..hit the apps hard. They are good.

That's disappointing about the menu changes.

Do you think it would be a better experience to maybe order multiple apps then split one entree and side rather than splitting one app and we each get our own entree?
