My wife and I are coming to New Orleans this weekend for the LSU - Ole Miss game. Arriving Thursday and looking for some good choices for dinner Thursday night. I am familar with the city and with some of the restaurants but it has been a few years since we have been there. Staying downtown so would prefer to be in that area. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hit up Domenica at the Roosvelt Hotel for an excellent Italian meal. Go early enough for happy hour.

I'll get out in front and ask the standard questions...how much do you wish to spend, how formal do you want to be, and do you have any specific food preferences?

This would be ARSEinclass's department.

I liked this while hitting up Sazerac's afterwards for the atmosphere.

I had dinner at Luke when I was down there for yazzfest. Thought it was pretty solid.

I am old and retired so dressing with shorts and a collared polo is formal for me. $$-$$$. Preferably classic cajun/creole. When we lived in Mandeville we would make a quarterly trip to Pascals Manale for barbqued shrimp.

Cochon or peche although neither are creole/cajun

Don't do that. They ain't what they used to be. If you want BBQ shrimp, go to Mr. B's for the best. It'd be nice if you could wear khakis or even jeans, though.

Thanks. Have seen a lot of people on here talking about Cochon.

Well, I've seen people in there at lunch in shorts, but it's not something I would do. No one will know you, so do what you wish. Lots of folks are pretty casual when it's really hot outside for lunch meals. They won't turn you down.

I am already bringing jeans so I guess a pair of khakis will work. No socks though

You'd be just fine in jeans. I see them at lunch and at night. Make a reservation.
Emeril's is another good suggestion. One of my favorites in the city. You can wear jeans there, too.

Peche is always the answer.
