Luke - a John Besh restaurant. Less pricey than his other restaurants.
Cheaper than that? There's a Juan's Flying Burrito on Barrone by Poydras . I could see bringing a casual date over there. Seems cool enough and intimate enough.
There's a couple of new places by the South Market district, but I haven't been to those yet.

Johnny Sanchez is across the street. If you don't want that, then go to a couple blocks down the street and grab a burger at Company Burger.

Went to Luke last night. They had a street party for the Vets. Mucho talent out there.

For a date, Johnny Sanchez is by far your best close option. Great food, good value, hip ambiance. Borgne is great food but very loud and has the decor of an institutional kitchen. Domenica would be a good option too.

Borgne was closed for a short time, recently, I believe, to have some interior decorating work done. Anyone been since that occurred?

Been to Borgne a few times since then. I hit the lunch specials and sometimes after Pelicans games. Anyway, the re-modeling is fine. Still loud though.
