Who even knew they had Cane's in California?

Yeah there’s no way In-N-Out is the most popular place in Texas. They have locations in what 2 cities in Texas?

I have never seen a chik-fil-a in New York.

I wonder what criteria they used because I am pretty sure there are more McDonalds than any other fast food restaurant.
Subway outnumbers McDonalds now but maybe they're not considered fast food.

There all over Dallas. houston is just now getting it right? Does Austin have it?
It's definitely no where near Whataburger. You got truck stop Whataburger's here in the middle of nowhere.

I find it hard to believe taco bell did not make even one state.

It's completely flawed way of looking at popularity. This is based on total sales per location. If it was based on total sales, Mcdonald's would dominate probably every state.
This chart is basically fast food restaurant efficiency. Which makes some sense as to why chick-fil-a did well.

I won't but I really don't get it, and I live in a town that has one and not much else. I do not eat there. Hate their burgers.

Foursquare check-ins don't seem like a great way to determine this. Does anyone even use that app anymore?

Business Insider teamed up with Foursquare to determine the most popular fast-food chain in each state.
For the study, we looked at which chains received the most visits on average per location in every state based on the total number of visits to each chain divided by the number of locations in that state.

That's funny. We only have 3 locations in the state of Oregon.
We also finally got a Cracker Barrel. Moving on up...
