Supposedly the most shared recipe on Pinterest. Gonna put one going tonight before I go to bed.

Put all of the following in a crackpot and cook on low for 8 hours

1 chuck roast (2-4 lbs)
1 ranch seasoning packet
1 AU jus dry seasoning packet
1 stick of butter
1/2 jar of pepperocini peppers

Looks like drip beef. Can't imagine it wouldn't be good.

Sounds weird but probably decent.

Sounds like a sodium bomb, with the two packaged mixes, stick of butter (I only use salted), and the jarred peppers. If you want a no packaged ingredients iteration of the recipe, here's the NY Times scratch version: LINK
Frankly, I don't like the shredded/stringy texture resulting from slowcooker beef. I'd rather use the pressure cooker & get nice slices in a fraction of the time. I did a sirloin tip in 1 hr last week....put potatoes into the PC along with the roast. They held their shape & were crazy good, as the PC forced the gravy/flavor into the potatoes.

While not the flavors I would have picked, I can't imagine how this wouldn't turn out at least pretty damn good.

We had this at a friend's house. They went on and on about it.

I didn't care for it. It had a vinegar aftertaste.

You can do better than the Mississippi recipe IMO.

Think about doing it this way

Crock pot
Chuck Roast
Can of beef broth
Finely diced carrot, onion, celery. Equal portions of each to make maybe a half cup total
1/2 cup Mushrooms if you like them.
2-3 cloves of Garlic minced
A half cup of blond roux
Salt and black pepper
2 inch sprig of rosemary
One bay leaf
1/2 cup of red wine

Will make a better roast and nice gravy at the same time.

made it tonite, fantastic
I didn't use the salty gravy mix just browned the shite out of the roast then added a little bit of beef stock

otherwise, a stick of butter, a jar of pepperoni and a packet of ranch mix
also I did it on the stove instead of the slow cooker, 4 hours simmer

on ciabatta bread with horseradish

I do it all the time. It is freaking amazing with a different flavor. But here is the secret. Overlook it. Let it sit in the crockpot all day 10 hours at least. The roast will fall apart. Guess what you can make with that. Poboys!! The juice it makes is worth drinking!! Shred it in the juice and put it on toasted poboy buns with provolone and mayo.

Frickin A man.

Eta : I just saw the part of the recipe about the peppers. 1/2 jar is vague. You only need 4-5 peppers. Also, put ZERO water in the crockpot.

Sounds like the stuff I see fat house wives share on facebook. My blood pressure is already high enough, so I think I'll pass.

it's really really tasty
delete the gravy mix like I did and use unsalted butter and it's much less sodium than the original recipe. One packet of ranch and 8tbs of butter ain't gonna kill ya

tremendous poboy makings

do something similar with roast and crab boil. Best shredded beef poboys ever.
