Went to NOLA to celebrate my anniversary and attend a wedding a weekend ago......grabbed up some good groceries.

Johnny Sanchez:

My wife really liked this place the last time we went, so she requested JS instead of my Peche reservation. OH NO. I certainly need to keep her happy, so I obliged.
I like the plantains w the chips. We split on the salsas, each preferring a different one.

GULF SNAPPER TIRADITO avocado, papaya, jalapeño, aji amarillo, lime - This was awesome. The waiter called the juice Tigers Blood and told us to watch out later we would be rocking the sack. Caught us off-guard but we got a chuckle out of it.

LUNCH SPECIAL : Squash Blossum Quesadilla
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. Pic doesnt do this justice. I chose the lunch special and it was a winner....cheese was nice and crispy, squash blossoms were tender and delicious. Wish I could get this regularly.

Dinner was August. Pics are dim due to lighting....Oh well. Is what it is.

lemonfish cru : charred lemon, cucumber, chicken crackling. I really enjoyed the Cru, very light and fresh

handmade potato gnocchi : tossed with blue crab and black truffle. My favorite gnocchi around...the crab is good contrast to texture. My wife wasnt impressed tho. ha.\

breaded flounder : artichoke, shrimp, crab. Wife's entree, I did not try. She likes heavily seasoned entrees, so this probably didnt do it for her. Presentation was excellent tho.

roasted duckling : popcorn grits, fig, foie gras. Big duck fan here. Seems to be the entree I get almost every trip to August. Solid and consistent.

I do not remember the dessert....I do know the description did not sound yummy as it spoke of oils, but we tried it upon recommendation. Was very good. It was a deconstructed ice cream tart of sorts.

Saturday Morning we made it out to Courtyard Brewery for their Anniversary Party. I had a Lonesome Traveler Nelson, good beer.

Saturday Lunch was LPG. I really like this place. Special board:

I had the Fried Sweetbreads App - it was incredible. Best sweetbread dish I have ever had. Garlic aoli was insane.

We split the Local Lettuce Watermelon Salad

Wife had their fantastic burger. I got a taste.

Saturday Evening was Wedding, Line, then Party

Late Night Crawfish Andouille Omelette at Daisy Duke's

Sunday we were lazy, headed to Mahoney's for lunch

Short Rib Poboy. Maybe I was just hungry, maybe its just me...but this was one of the better poboys ive ever had. I will go back. Just enough fat on the short ribs!

Some pics of some home cookin while we are at it.

God's Gift To Louisiana Seafood: White Perch

Chicken Saltimbacca

Made a trip to Mariner's in Natchitoches last week.... They heeded my request to customize my entree. Blackened Ribeye - Rare - w Oscar Topping. It was actually quite good.

Had to make a trip to Lake Village Arkansas last week to drop some goods at our duck camp. Son and I hit up Rhoda's Famous Hot Tamale's. Rhoda was in there chillin and talkin to folks. Sweet lady. I highly suggest a stop in there if you are ever passing thru.

Bama Week. Son had a gas station Corn Dog in honor of a Tiger Victory.

It all looks good. I have some tender squirrels in the freezer that I am thinking about using to make gravy this weekend. The rain has put me in the mood.
