Then definitely hit up Flight, it's not far at all from there.

My wife and I also did Majestic Grille for brunch, which was pretty good but didn't blow me away.

2nd Iris. Operated by a guy from NOLA and is putting out terrific food. I also like Ronnie Grisanti's and Folk's Folly. There is also a Brennan-family restaurant.

Soulfish Grill - Catfish, Fried Okra, Mac and Cheese, great smoked chkn wings.

HIGHLY Recommend Automatic Slims Tonga Club near the Peabody. Martini bar with great food.

HIGHLY Recommend Brother Junipers for breakfast. Near U of Memphis

If in the mood for fried chicken I'll forgo the Gus's and instead point you to Uncle Lou's. Don't get me wrong Gus's is good and there is one not far from the Peabody but I've had better fried chicken other places. Lou's dipped chicken just happens to be my personal crack. Skip the sides, they are nothing special and just stuff yourself until you waddle out. Only place on earth this skinny white boy tries to eat a 12 piece by myself.

dining in downtown Memphis

Felicia Suzanne's (the best)
Itta Bena (location on Beale is great)
McEwens (neat, dive-ish place. It good)
Flight (ok but very overrated)
Majestic Grill (very casual)
Gus's (of course)

Or Uber to Overton Square

Iris (awesome)
Second line (casual)
Babalu (casual)

All places will be very crowded

Or Uber to east Memphis

Andrew/Michael (the best in Memphis IMHO)
Hog & Hominy (chic casual)

I wouldn't go to Memphis without stopping at Rendezvous, but that's bbq.
Arcade restaurant is a good breakfast spot that hasn't been mentioned yet.
