So, I've never been to this, but had plans on going in a couple weekends. I'm not shelling out $450 a pop for VIP tickets, and realize the teams can't serve food to the general public, but I figured I could make some friends and taste some cue fairly easily. I talked to someone earlier today though who said I shouldn't waste my time on this, as he'd been and it was just going to amount to paying admission to get crappy fair-type food from vendors and watching the contestants party at their tents. Any insight/feedback? TIA.

If you know someone it is awesome. Not a lot to do otherwise. Make friends. And I think Thursday and Friday night are the major party days, not so much Over the weekend.

Nailed it. If you know someone with a tent it's a fricking party. If not, don't bother. Go to the music fest instead.

Thursday and Friday are when teams party. Knowing someone on a team is key. Otherwise you just look at people behind velvet ropes

if you don't know someone on a team and you don't have any options of getting inside the ropes, then, yes, it is not much fun at all.

Thursday night is the big night. The weekend - not so much.

There are a whole bunch of Hogs' teams that compete up there which is why I tend to have too good a time.
