Posted by mule74 on 5/22/15 at 12:17 pm00
Going to be spending one day in Barcelona, Marsailles/Cassis, La Speazia/Cinque Terre, Rome and Naples next week.
Any one have lunch suggestions for any of these? Won't be able to do dinner.

Barcelona, what do you like to eat/spend on food?

I'm good with $50-$75 per person per meal.

Im just assuming, but correct me if wrong, that since this is a cruise, you will need to be back on ship by 6 pm (taking dinner out) so you are looking for lunch.
The real problem is most "lunch hours" in Europe, but especially Spain, dont begin until 1 pm at the earliest. So not sure how tight your schedule will be with seeing sights and the like.
Near the port is a pretty good restaurant called 7 Portes, it serves traditional Spanish cuisine in a historic setting. Its not the best food ever, but it will meet your budget and is pretty good. Also Cal Pep and Origens (although not sure Origens is open for lunch) are right there and pretty good.
Your best bet might be to go the Boqueira and eat small meals at each of the food stalls there.
Cruise to Europe is better than nothing I suppose, but man is that a limiting way to travel.

Port is 45 mins at least from historic center of Rome. If you've been before, you won't feel the need to see everything and can pick one of Katie Parlas on point suggestions: LINK
If you've never been to Rome, forget the long lunch and go sightseeing. The ancient forum, the Colosseum, Pantheon, the fountains in Piazza Navona and Trevi, St Peters....eat a slice of pizza al taglio or a sandwich from a bakery followed by a gelato or two. It is a beautiful city for walking, with piazzas and fountains around every corner. There are tons of absolutely terrible tourist trap cafes in central Rome, serving mushy pasta and overpriced frozen entrees to unsuspecting tourists. Better to see much and dine elsewhere if you have limited time.

In Rome, if you are near Piazza Navona, try Enoteca Cul du Sac. It is a small casual wine bar but the food is very good. If you are in to Italian wines, they have an encyclopedic list. In the Cinque Terre, try Il Gambero Rosso in Vernazza. It is a small but atmospheric family run place on the harbor across from the church. The fresh seafood dishes are delicious and the pasta is homemade. We had a very enjoyable lunch there. In Naples go for pizza. That is where it was invented.
