What is the Food and Drink's opinion of Mead. Ive always seen it at Liquor stores and I decided to pick some up today. Its Mead infused with hops and ginger drinkin it slightly chilled and wow does this stuff go down amazingly easy. I am a fan.

I'm not sure what you have is real mead. I've had it twice in Europe and both times it was a too sweet, thick, molasses like concoction that I didn't care for.

The brand is "GI. Dansk Mjod" it says "Nordic honey wine with ginger and hops added". No reason to think its not real mead. I have heard that some are sweeter that others just like other types of traditional wines.

I'm definitely no mead expert. Maybe there are different types just like beer. So it's from where....Denmark? I had some at some obscure castle in Sweden in the middle of nowhere. I guess those Vikings like their mead....and heavy metal.

Dansk Mead is pretty legit. I like the Viking Blod. I'm a big fan of all types of mead. Have a few dozen bottles laying around that I've made over the years. Wait until the weather cools. Excellent fall/winter beverage.

It should be dry. Less than 1.000. Mine usually finish around 0.095 or so. Sweet meads are a chore to drink. Dry meads are a pleasure. If I wanted a sweet honey beverage, I'd just mix bourbon and honey.

Wow, I've never had one like that.
