Maybe my opinion is wrong, but caviar sucks

I have had caviar only a handful of times. I didnt see the hype, but admittingly is was " cheap stuff"
so I had some "good stuff" (read really expensive) lately and my opinion is the same. thankfully I didnt pay for it.
so am I missing something? I dont like the texture, flavor, or appearance.
convince me otherwise. and I apologize for not remembering the name of caviar I had. it was that underwhelming

I've never liked it either. Just a mound of beady salt.

If it was cheap and available at McDonalds people would be talking about how horrible it is.

I like it, but like many things, it's not for everyone. I typically have it on buckwheat blinis with creme fraiche and chives, with a glass of bubbly. Some of the domestic stuff is really good and much more reasonably priced than Beluga, etc.

Louisiana Golden Caviar(Choupique) is really good as well....
Belauga, Osetra & Sevruga are amazing......the price is too! LOL

You don't enjoy tobiko at sushi restaurants? Salmon roe?

I like caviar, but don't eat it very often. If you have some nice champagne, it's a great pairing.
As for expensive treats, it's not very high on my list. I would prefer good iberico, foie gras, or nice cheeses.

I'd spend all my money on caviar and cocaine.

Added to something it can be great to change a flavor profile. But straight up, no thanks.

Not much of a fan either....a little as a garnish on fancy deviled eggs or hollowed out tiny new potatoes, salmon or flying fish roe on a sushi roll, and that's about it. Too many other very expensive things I'd rather eat.
I'm not much of a sweetbreads fan either....

I like it...I'll eat your share.

Caviar pretty much tastes like fish guts, but if you mix it with cream cheese you can get it down.
Fresh fish eggs are much better. Bream eggs taste just like chicken eggs.

I must say that a nice dab of Caviar on a TaterTot, followed by a snootfull of snow is a dreamy treat.

Added to something
Had a friend in Dallas (long ago) who would mix caviar with softened cream cheese. Made for a wonderful treat on a toast point.
