I would have picked the gumbo for sure. Chicken and waffles should have been an easy task in an hour... easy enough to get it done in half an hour.

I was so surprised by the pick of chicken and waffles. Someone was going home regardless of the selection and he didn't know he'd get to shave time from someone, but on the other hand, that gumbo looked like an abomination, so bar may not have been very high on the gumbo. I maintain it wasn't gumbo, but I don't know what it was.

I wonder what was worse, the gumbo Ramsey displayed or Jay's gumbo on FNS.

Oh, and someone needs to tell that bitch that Virginia is only considered the South if you're a civil war historian.

I remember thinking that myself.

Chick, my money says Jay's abomination had better flavor.

I was sorry to see Tommy go. I was enjoying him. I would have canned Katrina.

Totally disappointing.

No way would I dine at her house over Stephen or Derek.

She would make one great item for her dish and pair it with absolute mediocrity.

Octopus-great. Frisse Salad-worthless. Potatoes-worthless.

She did this the entire time.

And she never got out of the Latin box.

At least that horrid Katrina got out. They had a thing for both of those two for some reason.

New woman pastry chef judge/host totally sucked.

Derek should have won. he was the most consistent throughout the whole season and his final three dishes looked wonderful. She just put mexican crap on a plate.

Seriously, Derek made Pork belly and watermelon that looked fantastic. She made a tamale........

I totally agree. Derek, to me, had the best performance last night. All she did was put a pile of cheap Mexican food on a plate and spruce it up a little. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't pay to eat at her restaurant of Derek's or even Stephens.

Plus his venison steaks looked amazing.

I thought the tamale looked good. However, I agree that Derek appeared to be the winner. Of course, I didn't taste the food, but historically, he was more consistent during the season. Apparently, they only judge on the last dishes. I was looking forward to a Derek-Stephen match. I think the green microwave sponge cake may have been the component that took it from Derek, though Gordon said it was tasty.

It's clear that the judges favored Claudia because of her heritage and better sob story. She never left her Mexican comfort zone. They have forced most one sided home cooks to leave theirs at times. The pressure test where Christine helped her with the cakes in the oven against Nick seemed awfully suspect. Derek probably should have won based on technique, risk factor, plating, etc.
