Martha's Vineyard Vacation (w/ lots pics)

Just returned from a week in the Vineyard. First time up there and it was relaxing and delicious.
Tuesday was a fun filled day of 2 delays followed by a canceled connection. Luckily, DC airport serves Yuengling.
Wednesday I awoke to the Aquinah beachside house with a galley style kitchen with a view.
Wednesday dinner was clam chowda'. It was good but a far cry from the richness of a Louisiana bisque
Thursday the gf and I drove around the island checking out the towns of Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, and Oak Bluffs.
Top down blaring 60s on 6 made the drive quite lovely. A step up from my ford focus.
In Oak Bluffs we stopped at Fat Ronnie's for burgers. 2 cheeseburgers (9oz patties) with an order of fries and drink for $24.
Many different toppings for no charge. Owner was very nice and hands on.
From there we stocked up on provisions.
Being from New Orleans, it takes getting used to "finding a liquor store". I could make it a scavenger hunt. Beer selection was meh.
Thursday night we enjoyed pulled pork. It was as good as it looked.
I took salad responsibility. Made a dressing of olive oil, creole mustard, honey, S&P.
Scallop potatoes with fresh herbs
This was my go to 1:30 sandwich. Turkey, mayo, Swiss, chips.I love my Zapps but Cape Cod chips are quite addicting.
Daily afternoon cheese and cheap beer plates
Friday was my turn to cook. I wasn't prepared to cook Cajun in MV so I stuck with my simple go to grilled chicken wings. 36 hour marinade in soy, honey, and Tony's. Added some grilled asparagus.
Saturday hopped on this speed demon and biked to Menemsha. Downhill was lovely. Coming back uphill I'd rather not discuss.
While touring the small town we had lunch at The Galley, a small window order spot that does seafood, sandwiches, and plate lunches.
We sat on the back porch with a nice view.
Same harbor the Orca departs in Jaws.
She went with the Crabcake on a bun $8.50
I chose the lobster roll $11.50 (very reasonable prices)
The seafood fest continued back at the house for dinner Saturday and Sunday night.
Pickled herring in sour cream. I've read about this old school seafood snack. Salty and sour and delicious. I can see how it's an acquired taste though.
Scallops with parsley and garlic
Lobsters before and after
I handled the cucumber and tomato salad
And corn machoux
There were also plenty options for ice cream. The snickers vanilla from this place was awesome
1 scoop for $5.50 seems steep but their "scoop" was about 4. It's like being at Bourbon Heat on a Saturday afternoon and you order a beer and they hand you 4. Puts a smile on your face.
On our way out we stopped at MV bakery on Oak Bluffs for a morning treat - Boston cream donut.
Stopped in at the Offshore Ale Co for a few pints. MV only brewery.
Enjoyed some JFK Shake Shack before flying out.
Overall a very relaxing vacation. Now let's Geaux Saints!

I'll take a dozen scallops, please!
The house looks like it was designed by George Costanza, the pretend architect.

Is that you Arse?
I swear it looks like you. If it is, we miss you.
Are you on a diet?

Hahaha. I didn't know exactly how it looked until the sun came up. Literally the walls are all screened windows so a constant breeze 24/7.
First I've stayed in with no a/c but you don't need it.
As for the scallops, yes they were awesome.

In Yarmouth now, last night of vacation. We had plans to go to Martha's Vineyard but caught up here. Just got done sailing and heading back for a surf and turf dinner. Cape Cod is definitely amazing.

Nice. Reminds me of a daytrip I once took to Montauk, Long Island. Those small northeastern coastal towns know how to be pretentious but in a good way lol.

That's how I felt too. It was like walking into a J Crew catalog but everyone was super nice.
