Went last night. Place is fantastic - good atmosphere, great food, nice wine list and craft cocktails. We split an order of the goat ricotta bruschetta as an appetizer. One order is more than enough for 2 people. Ricotta is whipped so its not a dense consistency. I had the duck with papardelle, while my fiance had the gnocchi. Both were excellent. Simply prepared, but very tasty. Duck was both shredded and had the breast meat sliced. Gnocchi was stuffed with potatoes, kale and ricotta. Prices are moderate. Place does not take reservations so there can be a wait. Also, parking can be problematic, since the adjoining lot is owned by NOCCA, and they will tow even at night. Thankfully, we live within walking distance. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

Excellent.

I've been wanting to try this place. I assume all the pasta is homemade?

I must say, goat on bruschetta seems odd. The textures seem off, but I would certainly try them.

I wonder if they will keep the no reservation policy. I'm not sure how long I want to wait when there are other options around the corner.

Good review, I will be trying the place soon!!

I've heard nothing but good things about this place. It's on my list. The no reservation policy is sort of irritating, but c'est la guerre.

Yes, all pastas are made in-house. They have a very nice bar, and they are adept at moving tables, so I don't believe the no reservation policy will be a big issue, except maybe for prime time Sat. night.
The bruschetta does sound like an odd mix, but we ordered it based on the waitresses' recommendation (service was very good!), and she hit it on the mark. Odd, but damn good. Wine list was very affordable - most bottles in the upper 20s-mid 30s range., with the obvious emphasis on Italian wineries. Had an Italian chardonnay, Tiefenbrunner, was very nice - complemented food extremely well. $33 for the bottle.

BOOM! Hook set!
Place just moved to the top of the list for me to try.

Here is the menu, the place is dirt cheap.

The papardelle had a liver mousse?

ETA: See, this pisses me off. This is the kind of place I was hoping Amici would become. If Amici could put out food like this, they would be printing money.

Yes! It was spread on crostini. Was damn good, too. Whole experience was just damn enjoyable. Fiance woke up this morning, looked at me, and asked if we can go back tonight!

I have heard nothing but great things about this place so I guess I have to make my way out there at some point.

I went two weeks ago on a Saturday, about 8:00 and was seated in about 20 minutes. Was hardly an issue at all. Just enough time to finish a drink at the bar.

Place is fantastic. Got the salumi plate, red snapper crudo, a salad with anchovies and pig ears, a bruchetta thingy, and two pasta dishes.

SO went and said it was great. There's a lot of good stuff out in the Bywater, just sucks that the other side of St. Claude is awful.

The pizza place rocks especially the homemade pasta. I had it with pork and brussel sprouts.

The joint - killer b'que. Some of the best in Louisiana IMO

I will try Marisa's if I remember the next time im in NOLA

FYI, for anyone trying to look the place up, its name is actually Mariza, with a Z. And of course, no possessive, but I tend to find that N.O. custom a bit more charming than some others here.

Mariza.

And yes, I've been meaning to post a review for a week now.

Place is GREAT.

Oysters with interesting accoutrements.

Great snapper crudo.

The pastas...holy shite. The black linguini was great, but the ravioli that was a special, wowsers. Even dessert was great.

And the prices were reasonable. Loved this place.

I have honestly never eaten anywhere in the marigny/bywater. Just seems so far out of the way for me and it is the only area in the city I don't really know.

Might I also suggest Booty's for small plates and cocktails. I like.

Booty's is damn good, as is Maurepas. FYI - place across the street from Booty's closed - Prime Grille.

If I lived on the wank, I would be dying to get out of the way to eat.

You can't eat Pho' every day.

Bywater is easier to (or, at least just as easy to) get to as pretty much anywhere uptown from the wank.
