Wort is purposely infected with yeast to create beer.
Wort is inoculated, not infected.
An infection by definition is a contamination.
Brewers inoculate wort with a specific microorganism(s) to achieve a specific end result. A beer is only considered 'infected' when an organism outside of those the wort was inoculated with is present in the beer.
Even beers that are open fermented in coolships are not typically considered infected if the results are poor since the variety of micro-organisms introduced during the open fermentation were done so intentionally.

I guess Andrew is trolling himself when he wears a hat that says "make ghost great again"....
I'm guessing Andrew didn't post it 30 times, without context or provocation and just to piss off his peers, over the course of a couple days
Again, similar info; different tones and intentions.

Anyone who doesn't want to drink that "disappointing" West Coast Ghost is free to send their bottles my way.
I'll trade 1:1 for DDH Envie or Bloom!

Good ghost or bad ghost, I would just like to find a bottle to try. I really like Envie and want to just taste ghost.

Understood....but the point remains, the problem was the evolution of the house yeast, not the contamination of a different yeast, unless I read it wrong.

...yeah, that was kinda my point about why "Yeast Infection" was inaccurate.

Yea I think the term infection here does not apply....If they are using the same yeast for ghost that they used for bloom, that is great news.

I bought the last two 4 packs of Bloom Tuesday and a case of the double hopped Envie. Had a Bloom on tap and I like it. Haven't had the Envie yet but will this evening. I'm guessing I made a good purchase?

Yes indeed good sir. Though I wish you wouldn't have bought the last of the Bloom you son of a bitch.

Let me know when Andrew post the same picture multiple times with provocation

I know I'm up here in Oregon and only get 2 cents worth, but I've said it before, that I think this Ghost is a great beer, and I wish they would continue to make something similar and not be one-dimensional with their pale ales. They should make it, even if it isn't called GitM...
I also keep waiting for some of the other breweries to step up and fill the gap with IPA/DIPAs that are available during the time when Ghost/Bloom/Opus are not available. It looked like Devil's Harvest was going to step in, but I guess they backed off on that excellent beer they had for a couple of batches. Is Brightside going to do it when they go to cans?

yes and no... (IMO)
The problem was Parish was attempting to get a yeast strain they selected to be highly flocculant (Wyeast 1098) for Canebrake to remain in suspension (not flocculate) for Ghost. Some generations it worked and some generations it didn't.
When the house strain drop out and left Ghost clear, it wasn't an evolution/mutation in the strain that did this. It was the strain doing exactly what it was selected to do.
Parish is simply giving up on fighting the house yeast strains natural tendencies and selecting a new strain that performs like they want.

That makes sense. Do any other breweries with big hoppy beers fight the inconsistency that Parish is facing right now?
