Went for lunch about a week ago. Place was empty at noon.

Got the grilled fish entree. Fish was overdone. All of the sides were seasoned the same as the fish. The vegetables were pretty good but the rice was terrible.

Service was decent. Will probably give it another shot sometime but I also thought the menu left a lot to be desired. A couple more entrees would have been nice but it was mainly sandwiches and salads.

Anyone have a better experience?

It was lunch and I was literally the only person sitting outside. Couple of people on the patio were having cocktails..

Meant to post on this thread. Disappointed you had a bad meal as this is a target soon to go to. Still going to go but really find it strange a new place is starting out mediocre with their menu.

That's a good sign of a place that sucks.

We went there for drinks on Saturday. We got a BBQ Shrimp plate (the Asian one) and it came on a bed of fries. I think 5-6 shrimp with head on and tails peeled. It was $15 and pretty good, really good if you like Asian flavors. It wasn't as good as say Mr. B's, in my opinion.

Most people were ordering sandwiches from what I could see.

The drinks we got were Rum Punch and a Basil infused cocktail similar to a Mojito. The drinks were $9 in a Collins glass....AND They were terrific. I did try the house Gin and it was not to my liking, not botanical enough for my tastes.

They have a $20 per person all you can drink Vodka Bar until 2 PM on the weekends.

I would recommend the two drinks to anyone. They were stupid good. It wasn't dead while we were there, but I expected it to be more crowded. Maybe 16-20 people total eating on a weekend.

I have a weird fascination with this place. I've been trying to get over there for a minute.

This makes me excited. I'm totally unconcerned with their food. It would just be cool to have a place that bangs out quality spirits and cocktails right there next to Avenue.

Thats a half mile from me... Sad it sucks. I usually stick to magazine street since it is a shorter walk..

Again, it was one dish so maybe I caught just one thing they don't do well or they had a bad day. I'll probably give it another shot eventually but I was disappointed on that visit

I've been fascinated with the concept of the place and really rooting for it. The inside looks really clean and the whole house made liquors concept is a fun one and unique to St. Charles. I was giving it the six months treatment but sounds like I should make it nine months. Thanks everyone for the reviews.

went Friday and everything was well above average.

pork skewers
BBQ shrimp
crawfish Mac and cheese
hand cut fries

the cocktails however were amazing. the basil mojito concoction was so crisp but smooth.

place was probably a 40% full at 6pm on a Friday. hoping it can make it.

The overhead that that place must have gives me anxiety.

Has anyone been in the last few weeks? I've really been wanting to check it out but this thread's mixed reviews has me second guessing.

Also, how are the cocktails straight from the tap/pre-bottled? I'd be concerned that they are a few days old and not as good as a freshly made cocktails.

It's in my neighborhood so I've been a few times, mostly for lunch. I find the lunch menu easier to manage, but both menus are pretty limited. I think Lula is a cool spot for a drink and a sandwich but that's it. I had the same OP as someone earlier and wasn't blown away by anything but the price. Also, the place is wayyy too big. I would venture it will never be 100% full. It feels weird dining in an area that is 40% full, even with 30 other people dining.

TLDR- Good drinks, atmosphere solid, decent sandwiches.

We went for brunch on Mother's Day, and it was pretty good. I liked the drinks more than the food, but the food wasn't bad. I would go again if someone wanted, but I don't think I would go out of my way to go. It's about a 3.5/5.

The cocktails on tap are really good, especially the mojito and the daiquiri.
