Looking for places to eat near Jerry World

I'm going to the Baylor-Texas Tech game on Saturday and I'm looking for a good spot to grab a bite to eat and some booze before the game. This will be my first time at the stadium, and the Baylor Alumni tailgate (my wife is a graduate) doesn't serve booze. That's obviously a deal breaker for an LSU boy.

Cafe Verde if you want Tex mex.

I don't want to burst the bubble too much here, but if you're looking for something in the immediate vicinity of the stadium, you're probably SOL. As someone who's team also plays a game in that stadium every year, I can tell you the immediate area is a black hole with regards to anything appealing food/retail wise.
IMO, you're best bet is to post up at an alcohol friendly tailgate, or catch I-30 over the Ft. Worth before hand. Sundance Square and the downtown area has plenty of bars to kill an afternoon before kickoff. Just tried a place down there last weekend called Mash'd for the first time that was pretty good.
ETA: Alternatively, taking I-30 over to Dallas is probably close to the same distance. I just prefer the vibe to Ft. Worth for Saturday CFB beer drinking. Also, I'm sure there's places to eat in Arlington proper I was just thinking more of killing an afternoon before kickoff if you won't be tailgating the whole time.

Mash'd isn't downtown or Sundance Square. You're thinking W 7th.
OP, if you do this right, be aware of traffic getting back to the stadium for kickoff. Can get hairy.

Well I'll be damned, you're right. We did one of those pedal bike, beer tour things down around Main St. and Sundance before catching a ride over to Mash'd. Had no idea we were that far West and was obviously a little hazy from the beer cart.

We live in Dallas so driving over to Ft. Worth and then back to Arlington probably isn't in the cards. It's a shame they don't have viable options within walking distance of the stadium. Seems to be lacking in the area of a lot of pro venues.

sports bar with good food- humperdinks, very cool place with homemade beer and tons of TVs- block from stadium
Marianos- one our favorite tex mex places- same owner as la hacienda ranch in dallas. invented the frozen margarita. go get some fajitas and a cold one. great food- 1 mile from stadium.
also a pappadeaux and pappasitos, bikinis, texas land and cattle, buffalo wild wings, boomerjacks sports pub. plenty of options

Thats the kind of reply I was hoping for
Marionos sounds like fun. I am planning on arriving down there around 11 and getting a jumpstart before kickoff.

We've had a good time at Humperdinck's the past few years the Tigers played there. We were staying in one of the hotels right next to it. It's nothing out of this world, but a decent place to have some drinks and nachos

Bodacious BBQ, just south of the stadium, is solid and they usually set up a big screen. Seems to be popular on game days.
BYOB.

Mariano's is very good too. They have a replica of the first margarita machine... Which they invented with the original in the smithsonian now.
Anyway, a good way to impress your peers on the ole Facebook!

funny thats what i always think. take clients from out of town there a lot and they love it. they get a kick out of it being the inventor of the frozen margarita

The one I go to in East Dallas has really gone down hill. Most people I know that used to love it feel the same way.
